On the never ending hunt for jeans

I'm looking to find jeans like the pics attached. Not skinny, not too high rise, maybe with some slight frays but not ripped. I'm failing big time. I've tried mom jeans which look awful on me, other more straight leg styles haven't been right...any suggestions? For reference I'm 5'7ish and a size 10 (pushing a 12 at the mo but trying to get rid of the lockdown lbs). Happy to spend up to £50ish.

Not these as only a few sizes left but I find mom or straight look massive and unflattering on me and I do better with something labelled slim or even relaxed skinny.

Bit more expensive and not distressed but the right shape and slightly vintagey?

GnTplease · 11/01/2021 11:59

Thanks all. I think maybe the third g-star ones might be closest but I'd prefer a little bit more of a distressed finish. Maybe I could have a go myself with a razor...but I'm likely to bugger it up and then have wasted ££!

@TableNiner hmm relaxed skinny might be the answer. My calves and ankles are pretty scrawny, even leggings can be baggy on them so that might work.

Distressing with sandpaper works quite well.

TableNiner · 11/01/2021 13:33

@GnTplease Ha yes, I have very little legs (short and scrawny), which suit skinnies but of course now they aren't so in. But I think even a slight amount of bagginess (so just not that sprayed on look) taps into the trend, especially if you find some distressed ones.

ParisJeTAime · 11/01/2021 13:41

The ones in the op look like distressed boyfriend jeans to me, (distressed boyfriend sounds like a wound up DP but you know what I mean)! Have you tried Gap?

ParisJeTAime · 11/01/2021 13:44

It maybe distressed girlfriend?

ScribblingPixie · 11/01/2021 13:44

I've had some that style from Zara and also a pair of J Brand (from TK Maxx) that were (I think) labelled cigarette jeans. Not ripped though.

GnTplease · 11/01/2021 14:07

@ParisJeTAime the distressed girlfriend look about right. The gap ones are almost there but a bit high waisted I think...

@ScribblingPixie ooh I'll do some googling on cigarette jeans. Typically I don't like zara denim - I've got a habit of yanking my jeans up by the belt loops which means I've ripped every single pair but they do tend to have more "trendy" styles.

OP posts:
ScribblingPixie · 11/01/2021 14:38

I think cigarette means slim straight leg but the ones I got from J Brand weren't massively slim.

Tehmina23 · 11/01/2021 15:11

I wear Slim Enhancer jeans from Next which are too long anyway (but the Petite are too short) so I roll them up above my ankle boots or trainers; I haven't been brave enough to make them look distressed yet.

BigusBumus · 11/01/2021 15:34

What about ACTUAL vintage jeans?

GnTplease · 11/01/2021 17:43

@Tehmina23 ooh I'll have a look at those. I may test my distressing skills on a crappy old pair I don't care about wrecking before having a go on a nice new pair!

OP posts:
GnTplease · 11/01/2021 17:44

@BigusBumus you know I've never bought vintage but it's worth a look. Not so keen on the ones you've linked as they look very much like the mom jean cut which look horrific on me but I'll have a look for some alternatives! Thank you

I'm the same hight and size as you and I like the boyfriend jeans from M&S. They're very comfortable

yaboo · 12/01/2021 00:03

yeah, 'mid-rise distressed girlfriend', or 'boyfriend' (a bit baggier)

MoltonSilver · 12/01/2021 00:19

My first thought would be Zara. I have a similar pair from there from a couple of seasons ago.

raffegiraffe · 22/01/2021 16:17

They look like some gap girlfriend jeans I have
