Would you still buy an oversized mulberry alaxa

I’ve always wanted one in chestnut but on their first release I couldn’t justify buying one. Mortgage, young family etc.
They’ve rereleased them. I could get one but have they had their day? I can’t see the new release in reality, lockdown, rural life etc.
I’ve looked at second hand ones on eBay, I’m not sure where else to look. I panic about them being fake.
Please tell be about your mulberry alaxa. Do you still love it? Did you buy secondhand? Where from? Did you have a good experience? Would you buy the new edition?
It’s a lot of money to spend. I’d normally never spend that much on myself, but would love one

If you love it get it. For me they have had their ‘moment’ as an it bag but they are practical and a classic design.

Perhaps look for a pre loved one on Vestiere etc so you don’t spend as much money as you would on a new one.

I loved my original one so much, but I don't use it at all any more because it's just so heavy! I got used to it but when I thought I'd try to use it again last year I couldn't believe the weight before I'd even stuffed it full of things. It does fit a lot in (I used to go out with a bottle of wine and outfit for the next day in mine!) but just so heavy to carry for any length of time.

I adore my Alexa. Are you on Facebook? There are several, very good Mulberry selling pages that I use to buy and sell.

Friendsoneuptown · 11/01/2021 10:19

Just to add, mine is second hand. I like the size. It’s oak. It does need a liner to hold some of its shape. It can be heavy but I suppose any bag will get heavy if you fill it with enough stuff.

I sold my oversized Alexa after a while, the large Mulberry’s are just so heavy. I’d actually really like a mini Alexa.

Here’s 2 very good Facebook groups for buying and selling. The admin are excellent in both groups and there are strict rules for selling to endure no fakes.

Thanks all. I’ve just joined vestiere and I’m about to join the fb pages suggested.

I’m very tempted to go second hand.

If you go second hand OP and don’t like it or don’t get on with it, it’s easy enough to sell it for the same ish as you purchased it.

I wouldn't.

I think they've had their day and they are actually (IMO) very heavy and impractical.

What would you actually use it for? I know none of my big bags have been out of my wardrobe since last March as I've been WFH since then, and when I do go out now, I just use a small cross body bag.

I have a regular one and find it slightly too small for purse, phones, makeup bag , work stuff like pens etc. so was thinking of an oversize as I do like them.

alloutofcareunits · 11/01/2021 16:53

I bought one second hand on one of the Facebook mulberry pages, seller sent me the receipt, perfect condition! It is quite heavy, though I love it - classic bag in my opinion. Mine is medium sized I'm nude with gold metalwork

alloutofcareunits · 11/01/2021 16:54

Should read 'in nude'! It's a sort of pinky colour, I paid less than 1/2 the cost price
