Best flat shoes?

Preferably sort of ballet flat style, not super expensive but not super cheap. Normally I buy Asda canvas ones and machine wash them every few weeks, but I want to treat myself to something a bit more fancy.

I have very wide feet so round toes are probably better for me, but happy to consider anything! I’d like something I can potentially buy in black and also a fun colour - so hoping for your recommendations!

Forgot to mention - must not be plastic, as I’ll wear them bare foot and my feet sweat and slide around in them! Leather or fabric of some description.

Thanks in advance.

I always buy French Sole ballet pumps and also have wide feet!

MustardMitt · 11/01/2021 01:00

Thank you @nutmegsteddytoes - how long do you find they last, and what do you wear them for? Not sure why I’m asking that as mine will be used for the weekly shop and not much else lol!

Russell and Bromley tan loafers. Not cheap, but last for years x

nutmegsteddytoes · 11/01/2021 09:36

I wear mine for the whole spring/summer and then they start to look rather "worn" .
I love the designs and have had oodles of pairs and I buy them for that reason as opposed to durability!
I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives from elsewhere though

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 11/01/2021 16:49

Fitflop allegros. I have three pairs

superram · 11/01/2021 16:53

Sargasso and grey are not cheap but last forever.

twointhemorning · 11/01/2021 19:52

I have wide feet. Try Clarks (wide fitting) and Gabor (wide fitting)

MustardMitt · 12/01/2021 18:58

I have fallen in love with Sargasso and Grey which I will be ordering the very second I get paid! Pricey but worth it IMO....

Thanks for the suggestion @superram

I also recommend Fitflop Allegros. I bought mine from Amazon.

Hobbs Suki are made of buttery leather and can be dressed up or down. I like them with rolled up jeans.

SoupnSalads · 19/01/2021 16:41

Also check out Vionics- just got some and love them.

SummaLuvin · 19/01/2021 19:36

Not exactly what you asked for, but in winter I live in my Chelsea boots. Much warmer than open shoes as you can layer in cosy socks, and better in rain.

MustardMitt · 19/01/2021 20:07

Oh @SummaLuvin as if I don’t already have a pair of Chelsea boots (and I’ve just ordered another pair BlushGrin)

Thanks for the suggestion!

Try Evans, great for a wide fit!

Spacecudet · 31/01/2021 09:28

I love my Butterfly Twists. They were very tight when I first got them, but super comfortable now I've worn them in.

ladygracie · 31/01/2021 09:31

I wear new look ones and they have a wide range too. They may be the wrong material for you, that’s all. Worth a look though.

ThePricklySheep · 31/01/2021 09:37

@Snoopysimaginaryfriend or @Pusspot
Can I ask you a question about the fit flops? Is the heel a bit bouncy? I struggle in anything super flat (the Hobbs ones look too thin heeled for example).

Bexg0405 · 31/01/2021 09:58

Ever with tights on or always with bare feet?

Pusspot · 31/01/2021 11:01

@ThePricklySheep they have a fair bit of padding inside. I find them very comfortable. They don’t look chunky from the outside though. They are cut just deep enough to hide my bunions, which is why I like them. I got mine from Amazon.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 31/01/2021 11:03

Definitely a good amount of hidden cushion. I was very pleasantly surprised

ThePricklySheep · 31/01/2021 11:12

Ooh lovely. That’s good to know, thanks both Smile
