One month to reinvent myself

Reinventinganna · 09/01/2021 20:26

I need ideas.
I’ve given myself one month to reinvent myself (style wise). I need beauty tips, exercise, diet and skincare.
I have (some) money and (lots of) time.
I’m late thirties, just over 5”3 and around 9 stone. Size 8-10. I need to work on my stomach, bottom and thighs. Wasn’t sure where to post this but feel most comfortable here.

What would you start with?

I like this idea. However I seem to have less time than ever now the kids are hanging around the house!
I'm not good on clothes so will follow for suggestions of bloggers etc.
To start I would
Buy vitamins.
You can't get a haircut (I assume, I loose track of the rules!) but you could learn to style it differently!
Maybe get new bras? I know fuck all about clothes but I know a well hooked bosom is a plus!
Skincare - I like the cleansers you wash off with a muslin but round here they'll advise you more scientifically if you tell them what you want to achieve.
Exercise - walk outside for 30 minutes a day (unless you're a runner) and every other day do a YouTube video - fitness blender, coach Kosak etc.
Eat - more veg and lean protein, less sugar and caffeine.
Start doing nail care every week.

Reinventinganna · 09/01/2021 20:42

@Love51 thank you! This is exactly what I’m after!

(Just wanted to say my dc are teens and I do work full time so although I said I have lots of time it because I’m ignoring everything else in my life and putting myself first for once!).

Love51 · 09/01/2021 21:01

Ah ok. I'd assumed furloughed.

Reinventinganna · 09/01/2021 21:16

No, but I’m ignoring my job Grin I work shifts so do have three or four days off a week and have decided to dedicate these to working on me!

Obviously I can still do skincare, healthy eating etc on work days although fashion and exercise are out due to the hours.

I’ve got quite a few skincare products and do have just basic multi vitamins at home so will start on those tonight. I will have a look at hair tomorrow, I’ve always been quite rubbish with styling. I have a regular cut and colour that I love but obviously that’s not happening!
I’ve recently stocked up on new underwear but always on the look out for more!
My diet needs a massive overhaul. I ate a box of Ferraro Roche for dinner! Blush
I do need to drink more water so will start that tomorrow!

Do the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.

I use her My Fitness app, which you can use to access all her workout videos plus customised workout programmes. (It's brilliant, you can customise for the amount of time you want to work out, intensity, available equipment etc). All you need is some dumbbells and a little floor space - I think I even started out with tins of beans! Usually you can sign up for a 7 day free trial.

Reinventinganna · 09/01/2021 21:22

Ooh! So search my fitness app and it’s all on there? Thank you!

Great thread! Definitely more water, keep less snacks around, eat less in the evening.

Early nights, body brush regularly....

I definitely want to come out of lockdown feeling fabulous!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 09/01/2021 21:35

I need to do 30 day shred again but it's so difficult 😂 well if you're a lazy slob like me it is. Spanx is my solution!

OP I'm very similar, I'm 32, 5ft4, 8-10, probably similar weight and also need to work on my thighs and bum. But Spanx is a fab immediate solution 😂

I've been taking a liposomal multivitamin for about a week now, drinking lots of water, have massively cut down my alcohol intake (it was pretty disgusting if I'm honest) and I'm trying to eat more healthily and a little bit less. Have been trying to go for walks too, and met up with a friend last night for what must have been at least a 3 mile walk. I've treated myself a bit a lot on some nice things in the sales, for when we're finally let out. I've also been using a couple of nice skincare items (M&S formula ultimate sleep cream is a godsend), and use body lotion daily, slather on loads of foot cream too and keep my nails looking nice. Oh and a weekly hair mask.

It's all pretty basic but I'm trying to do things that feel achievable and that I'll actually stick to! I'll do 30 shred for 4 or 5 days and give up (I've got the dvd, have done this before), so I'll stick to walking instead 😂

Lonelythisxmas · 09/01/2021 21:36

Exercise: 30-45 minutes of fasted walking each morning (basically just means walking before you’ve eaten anything) plus a couple of yoga workouts a week focusing on toning abs, arms and glutes (some great ones on Instagram)

Eat: more protein, fewer carbs

Reinventinganna · 09/01/2021 22:02

Yes people! Thank you!
@Lonelythisxmas carbs are gone! And morning walk with the pooch is in! Luckily I live in the middle of nowhere so walking is beautiful! 3 miles to the nearest beach so that’s tomorrow morning sorted.
@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind I’m sure that I have her dvd still in the packaging Blush
@Eesha I need to look at body brushing! I’ve just cleansed, exfoliated and stuck a mask on (not sure if that’s the right order!).

I should probably not be drinking wine. Maybe this could be my farewell old me party?

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 09/01/2021 22:44

@Reinventinganna I was thinking of going teetotal but again I thought I should try and do something that was actually achievable 😂

Since the first lockdown my drinking increased a huge amount. To the point of drinking pretty much every day, and probably 3 cans of cider/glasses of wine each time. Way too much, it was a just a habit borne out of anxiety and boredom. I've decided to cut back to one or two in the week (throughout the week not per night) and a few at the weekend. It's a massive reduction and that in itself will be healthier/make me feel/look better. I'm being really good tonight and drinking water and eating an apple, usually I'd be drinking large amounts of cider and pigging out on crisps. I'm hoping the results show soon!

Reinventinganna · 10/01/2021 10:47

Well done @StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind!
I don’t drink much but when I do I definitely binge!

I managed a walk, skincare and vitamins today. I even made sure that I dressed up nicely for my walk Grin
I was doing well diet wise until just now when I ate half a bag of tortillas.
I need to get off of my bottom and work out. I’ve promised myself a nice soak in the bath afterwards with my nice Christmas bubbles and a face mask.

CeibaTree · 10/01/2021 20:23

The best thing I’ve done lately is started taking spatone iron shots everyday. It’s sorted out my brittle nails and thinning hair, and my energy levels are much better. Giving up sugar and going low carb makes a massive difference too. I was pretty lax over Christmas but back on that regime now :)

Reinventinganna · 10/01/2021 20:51

@CeibaTree I’ll have a look at spatone. I take a normal iron tablet but doubt it does much! I’ve been looking at low carb. I think that it could work well for me as I don’t eat gluten so pasta, bread etc is out anyway. I need to research more.

Nefelibata86 · 10/01/2021 21:01

What about a style box such as Lookiero or stitch fix? You can set your budget and it got me out of a style funk.

Reinventinganna · 10/01/2021 22:07

I’ve not heard of those but will have a look! Thank you, great idea!

The liquid iron is absorbed much better than tablets, so well worth the swap. I get the sachets on subscribe and save on amazon so I never run out. Floradix is meant to be a good brand too (not sure if I’ve spelt that right though!)

CeibaTree · 10/01/2021 23:02

Also have you check out the low carb bootcamp topic - there is a new one starting next week :)

Reinventinganna · 11/01/2021 10:11

@CeibaTree I’ll look! Thanks
