The ordinary for teens

My DS 17 has had a few breakouts and I wanted to buy him some of the ordinary products to try. Can anyone help please as I find it really confusing and don't know where to start.

I wouldn’t bother personally, I’d get in touch with the dr & start prescription products to stop it.

Breakouts are just bacterial infections really so need medical treatment.

The beauty industry have really hijacked acne as a problem caused by you not using their products when really it’s the bacteria munching on sebum. It took me a case of cystic acne to realise that.

OP didn't say it was acne, though. My teens, DS16 and DS14 have the odd breakout of spots too but they don't have acne! Most teens have spots/ blackheads ag some point or even regularly without it being acne. (My niece has severe acne and attends dermatology. The medication has changed her life but it took years to get referred, it needs to be pretty bad for drs to get involved).

I've also been considering The Ordinary for DS14 as the things that work for his brother aren't so successful for him so would appreciate some input from others. Charcoal soap and Simple oil free moisturiser works very well for DS16. He also uses the little Simple emergency gel if needed to dot on a larger spot.

I have just ordered a goat milk soap with honey as it comes recommended. I'll see how that goes before The Ordinary. If you do order OP post what you decide on please.

All spots are technically acne, same as all nerve pain is neuralgia.

If I get a spot it’s because bacteria’s colonised a pore and my immune system is dealing with it.

Thanks all. It more like the odd spot/s as well as blackheads. I wouldn't say it's acne at all.
At present he generally uses simple products but his 23 year older sister has started using some of the ordinary products and has been really impressed with them( not sure what she uses as she doesn't live at home but will ask her). I considered trying them for my ageing skin Hmmbut not sure where to start for that either!
