First one that sort of looks 2 piece - second one looks a bit like a kimono/nightie to me

poopyface · 06/01/2021 15:58

*meant i like the first one best

ApolloandDaphne · 06/01/2021 16:01

I think the second one will swamp you so I would say the first one. Having said that I think there are probably many nicer dresses out there for you. What are your criteria for this frock? I am sure people will be along to help you search just shortly.

BananaSmoothie20 · 06/01/2021 16:06

It's my sons communion (if it goes ahead). There is a lot of lovely stuff on sale at the moment so I was hoping to try get something now. It will be a sit down lunch in a restaurant

The first one is much nicer but it's winter occasion wear to me. The second one is ok but it might swamp a shorter woman and it's slightly off to me in terms of cut/shape/elegance. Maybe it depends on the occasion and how dressed up you'd need to be.

Apileofballyhoo · 06/01/2021 16:14

Have you looked through Hobbs? www.hobbs.com/sale/clothing/dresses/

candycane222 · 06/01/2021 16:18

Bear in mind May can be quite chilly (at least outdoors) so I'd be thinking about sleeves/wraps as well

Standrewsschool · 06/01/2021 16:21

I think the dresses suit different figures. The second one would suit someone with a bust whilst the first one would suit a smaller Chester person. Also these one one may be too long?

Both lovely dresses though.

Correlation · 06/01/2021 16:35

I think they are both lovely. I'd probably go for the floral one as it's a little more relaxed. The first is really formal, could even be a wedding dress. I hope it goes ahead for you 🤞🏻

Pinkcadillac · 06/01/2021 17:58

I like the first one

Beetle76 · 06/01/2021 18:51

I prefer the first - I think structure and tailoring is always more flattering if you want a more formal look. I guess though it depends on the length and how/where the tailoring hits on your body. I’m on the shorter side so I’d look out for somewhere that does petite formal wear so it’s in proportion on you.

Veterinari · 06/01/2021 21:30

They're both quite ugly. First is less so

pourmeanotherglass · 06/01/2021 22:26

It looks like Im in the minority here, but i prefer the second. The fluffy bit on the first is a bit weird. Second is lovely.

Faith50 · 06/01/2021 22:27

Neither is to my taste but if I had to choose it would be the first.

Deadringer · 06/01/2021 22:33

I think the first one is lovely, don't like the second at all.

ooohbriefcase · 06/01/2021 22:49

I usually love floral clothes, but the floral dress looks like it would drown most people and wouldn't look very flattering. I think if you're a tall with long legs you could get away with it. The first ones ok, it doesn't look bad, but looking at the top bit is making me itch a bit.
I would maybe look for a third option, another floral dress maybe.

Happymum12345 · 06/01/2021 23:36

I’m sure there must be better options out there. They are both very different from each other. I would wait until you have lost the weight and then decide as your shape may well change.

GingerScallop · 07/01/2021 00:18

I like the first one but if you are big busted or have a short midriff it might not be so great. The second one might make you look frumpy. Second one is kind that looks good on models and reasonable on the Duchess of Cambridge but horrible on the rest of us general population

SpeckledyHen · 07/01/2021 07:35

Not keen on either to be honest but it is all a matter of opinion. I think the first one could be very difficult to wear without looking like a square .

In your position I would wait until I had lost the weight and go to John Lewis when the summer collections are in and have a personal styling session .
I certainly wouldn’t buy now and hope that it fits and suits in May .

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/01/2021 07:39

I like the first one more. I think you'd need very high heels to wear the second one, even then it may not be quite enough. I'd keep looking though.

shhsecretsquirrel · 07/01/2021 07:47

The first one, although it might look a bit too wintery for May?

BananaSmoothie20 · 07/01/2021 09:06

Thank you everyone for the replies and I feel you are right about the second dress I feel it could definitely swamp me and the first dress I'm. It sure about either tbh, will keep looking. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will see loads of lovely SS21 coming out.

Where the first one from?

TwilightToStarlight · 07/01/2021 16:03

Hobbs one is nice. Not keen on the ones in the op.
