Can I wear a man's jumper?

I'm a size 14 and want a chunky warm jumper Cnut struggling. Found this nice fat face one but not keen on the pink and blue not in my size.
Found an m and s one but I know I won't look cute in man's jumper but maybe a bit odd....I think the funnel will suit me better than a round neck but I now want this one I can't have. I'm cold WFH but hate wearing just hoodies.

Can I wear a man's jumper?

Is this a real question? Are you always so constrained by the "rules"? Wear whatever you like.

KeepOnKeepingOnKeepingOn · 05/01/2021 22:33

Yeah, of course! I've quite a few mens warm tops from Go Outdoors etc Smile a lot of women's stuff are pinks & purples, I prefer the mens colour ways on clothing

MoltonSilver · 05/01/2021 22:42

Of course you can. The quality and price are often better than in the women's section. The only downside is that the arms might be a bit long.

polkadotpjs · 05/01/2021 22:56

Oh it's not rules that stop me. More things like arms being too long / shape etc. Hasn't thought of sleeves. Bugger.

I have 2 M&S men’s jumpers that I love.

Mine are a size S and I usually wear a size 10 too as I am quite flat chested. I find the arms fine and I don’t think I’m long limbed, I’m 5ft 6 tall.

WestSideBoom · 05/01/2021 23:03

I've got that first jumper and it's lovely but it's not chunky.

What about this one (still not chunky)

Angeliana · 05/01/2021 23:03

It’ll be too tight around the chest and hips and gaping in the small of the back!

WestSideBoom · 05/01/2021 23:04

Try Woolovers. The best thing If you are cold in a thermal vest.

AlannaOfTrebond · 05/01/2021 23:10

It entirely depends on what shape and style you want the jumper to be.

I spent my entire teenage years wearing M&S mens jumpers and cardigans both at school and out of school as did all my friends as baggy was in fashion.

If it fits the way you want, go for it.

From the criteria you have posted I'd also look at merino jumpers from Uniqlo, I love them.

Sleeves look great long. Men’s chunky Aran type jumpers are gorgeous. Got to be 100% wool, though. That means Fatface is out.
LegArmpits · 06/01/2021 01:15

(((men's jumpers)))

RacheyCat · 06/01/2021 02:41

I just fold the sleeves up a bit if the arms are too long. I love buying from the men's side in shops.

It does crush my male students sometimes, when they come to college wearing something awesome and see their female teacher in it too.

"Teacher, did you buy that in Zara?"
"Yes!"
"Me too. But, wasn't it in the men's area?"
"Yes!"
"Oh."

wellthatsunusual · 06/01/2021 02:47

I spent my entire teenage years and early 20s buying from the men's section because I had big boobs and everything in the ladies section was too tight across the chest. The arms were maybe a bit long but not much and what I loved most of all was that the body was longer so they always covered my bum too, much cosier than ladies jumpers which stopped at the waist.

spidermomma · 06/01/2021 03:03

I was having a clear out of my oh stuff about 7 years ago and found a long blue wooly jumper. He went to throw it until I realised it was Burberry and thought I'd have it as. It's pretty long and it looks amazing on with a pair of comfy ugg boots as a jumper dress you'd never know !! Still have it now!! X

user686833 · 06/01/2021 03:06

I always buy men's jumpers. I prefer a slouchy fit, they always seem to be better quality and value too, more classic designs and in plain darker colours I prefer. I also despise anything touching my neck or a shorter waistline which is too common with women's jumpers.

thedevilinablackdress · 06/01/2021 07:58

I also get men's jumpers and cardigans a lot. Quality is often better for the price, especially somewhere like M&S. Sleeves might be a little long depending on the size/for you go for, but nothing too problematic.

polkadotpjs · 06/01/2021 09:47

Love all this thanks!!

Yes! I often buy mens jumpers, sweatshirts and hoodies (and I'm a 5'2" shortarse!)

cannaethink · 06/01/2021 10:32

I’ve got narrow shoulders and wide hips so men’s jumpers don’t fit me at all!
I’ve got a couple of the lambs wool crew neck jumpers from Uniqlo (ladies section!) which are so warm, not itchy, and fit!

AudreyAubergine · 06/01/2021 10:45

I've worn them in the past, but I am tall and have quite a big frame! So probably built more like a man than most women Blush.

Janegrey333 · 06/01/2021 10:53

It’s a great look on all women! Wearing them in a feminine way is easy.

FindHungrySamurai · 06/01/2021 10:57

I love a men’s jumper. At a time like this they’re unrivalled for cosiness, and I have quite large shoulders for my size so they work well, although I have to roll up the cuffs - mind you I often have to do that with women’s clothes as well.

pissedglitter · 06/01/2021 10:57

I buy men's jumpers more often as the arms are longer

Ladies sleeves are normally too short for me

dudsville · 06/01/2021 11:05

I wear men's jumpers for the long sleeves and the fit as I find women's jumpers too clingy.
