Is patent leather tacky?

So I’ve been looking for a nice black leather belt. I keep getting drawn to patent croc leather belts. Are these tacky? Should I just look for a plain smooth leather?

Do you mean tacky as in sticky or cheap looking?

Patent leather can look very good. But it needs to be real, and not plastic.

Definitely would be purchasing genuine leather. Trying to buy things that will last these days, instead of ‘throwaway’ items.

I think a slim patent leather belt would look very nice, especially against something tailored and plain.

Years ago, I had some grey low heeled patent court shoes that I wore mostly for work. They were comfortable and very chic, and I was desolate when they wore beyond repairing. I kissed them goodbye as they went in the bin. So useful. Agree with Minky that a slim belt is endlessly smart and versatile.
