Hair loss / thinning hair. Help please

My usual thick wavy hair has become fine, thinning out. I am shedding hair all over the house. Hardly dare brush it.

I'm pre-menopausal and I have an illness that also causes hair loss. It's beginning to get me down now, I wear my woolly hat when I go out.

Can anyone recommend hair treatments/products?

I am currently using sample Aveda invati products. Amazing difference but cannot afford to keep using it.

Have you had blood tests to rule out any underlying issues? Anaemia can sometimes cause hair loss, as can (I believe) lack of the B vitamins.
Stress can also cause excessive shedding, especially several weeks after a particularly stressful event. I feel your pain as my hair is also shedding and it's very distressing.

I use a volumising shampoo and conditioner, plus volumising mousse, but am aware that this only masks the problem, doesn't deal with the underlying cause (which in my case appears to be hormonal!).

Hypothyroid can cause hair loss.
