Collagen supplements?

PronkWine · 02/01/2021 20:14

Does anyone use a collagen supplement? I read the other day that it can be effective but you need a certain type for skin (type 1?).

I have no idea where to look for a safe effective (cost effective!) supplement.

Any advise?

Bumping because I want to know too!

U take absolute college shots sometimes daily but they’re rank - I do think they made a difference after about 3 weeks, so worth sticking with but again- rank- and a bit £ but... probably worth it!

Sunshiney1981 · 02/01/2021 21:41

I stir the powder into my daily cup of coffee.

I use grass fed stuff by Hunter and Gather. It’s £20 a packet but it does last well.

BTW in coffee you can’t taste it.
In tea it’s not nice!

ZipVit (online store) do collagen tablets ...

You excrete extra protein in your urine. The body won’t store it.

There is very Little hard evidence to support taking it & there’s no shortcuts to a healthy lifestyle.

Has anyone started taking collagen since this thread was started?

itallwentwrongat30 · 11/01/2021 09:38

I have been taking revive collagen. Don't see a difference in wrinkles or anything but definitely cleared up my spots and red scarring!

Feedingthebirds1 · 11/01/2021 17:05

I've done better taking two of the individual amino acids involved in the formation of collagen - L Proline and L Lysine. I'm going to add the third, L Glycine. Full house.

I notice my hair is better and my skin firmer when I take it
I stopped about 6 months ago and re started a few weeks ago again now

Are you taking pills or the sachets that you put into drinks?

Sorry I don't know who this was aimed at but for me I take the sachets. I just take it straight from the sachet as I don't mind the taste (but you can stir it into a drink) xx
TheYellowOne · 12/01/2021 18:06

I've been taking Absolute Collagen (individual sachets) for 2 months. The only difference I've noticed is that the fine lines round my eyes are less obvious. No difference to hair, nails, joints etc. I'm thinking about stopping them, it's not enough of a difference to justify £33 per fortnight.

I like the collagen supplements from Myvitamins. They also do a coconut & collagen supplement and the drinkable ones. Anyway, they're fairly cheap and Myvitamins always has a ton of discount codes. SAVE55 will get you 55% off at the moment.
