Can I have suggestions for brands which are not frumpy or fussy? I want a block colour, non shiny, no lace or fancy bits and quite fitted and classical looking. Think Melania Trump at Donalds inauguration but on a tall size 14 with an ugly face LOL. I don't mind splashing out a bit either as it is my only child's wedding and I want to look classy but not a huge frump. I can't really find anything that I want to wear I love Catherine Walker coat dresses but these are just far out of my budget (which I could stretch to around 1000 for right dress). Cheers

How about something like The Fold? Block colours, not fussy, within budget, fitted (think they can alter to suit as well).

BombshellHQ dresses might also work.

(And I bet your face is lovely.)

Have you tried Hobbs and Gina Bacconni at John Lewis? I would wait until Spring, so that you get next year's colours and collections. Perhaps an appointment with JL personal shopper at a large JL?

Thanks @CatherineMaitland both of your suggestions looks promising - never heard of either of these before Thanks @DianaT1969 yes I have tried Hobbs and I like the style of a couple of dresses but very wishy washy colours, Gina Bacconni might be worth a look too.

I think you'll find what you're looking for at Bombshell.

Above your budget but I'd have a look at the Sales here: www.suzannah.com/collections/ready-to-wear-sale

Or Goat? www.goatfashion.com/karmine-dress-marine

The mint green Roland Mouret is absolutely stunning.
