DMs that aren't DMs?

Looking for an affordable but sturdy pair of black flat stompy boots to wear with tights and dresses... normally I love Doc Martens but budget these days is tight.

Where would you look?

I've got these from Spanish brand Musse & Cloud. www.musseandcloud.com/en/product/botines-erica/252437 and they have lots of other styles similar to DMs. I think they ship to the UK or you might be able to find a stockists over there. There's also a Spanish shop called Ulanka that sells them. Comfortable from the first wear and the leather is wearing nicely.

It's tricky because I want something military-esque, but not that ends up cutting my legs off at the calf and making me look short and stubby, and that's hard to know when you can't try on...

I wonder if you need to take into account the fact it’s in the eu and there would be duty to pay though?

I've just bought a pair of these - Taff boots by Oxygen - which are on sale at the moment. I am breaking them in but they are already a lot more comfy than docs. Not as waterproof, so I've sealed around the stitching with something called McNett Seam Grip to try and waterproof them myself. Seems to have worked so far...
