As on ones you wear in a field?
If so, no.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 01/01/2021 19:37

I got the Nanettes for Xmas, not the platform sole ones.
Def not field walking boots, they’re far too beautiful Grin

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 01/01/2021 19:44

I want comfy walking boots that are not totally flat [stumps feet]

OP posts:
Partey · 01/01/2021 19:45

I’ve not long bought some Skechers walking boots. Called mountain kiss, possibly Bob Mountain Kiss. They’re light, comfy and not a flat sole? Also cheap
Other than than my Dad swears by his Scarpa boots

Frenchdressing · 01/01/2021 19:46

Fashion boots that look like hiking boots.

If you want hiking boots go to an outdoors place.

PurpleDaisies · 01/01/2021 19:47

Where will you be wearing them?

PurpleDaisies · 01/01/2021 19:48

I have scarpa boots for wearing in mud and rain. They’re fantastic.

TottiePlantagenet · 01/01/2021 19:50

These are not totally flat and suitable for a muddy field:

But they're not pretty like the Nanettes Grin

bumpdownthestairs · 01/01/2021 19:50

Gosh, I seen this on my 'active' threads list and thought it was from the baby name topic for a split second 🤣 I was going to kindly suggest it may be a bit much 😂

WanderingHopefully · 01/01/2021 19:51

Haha, no definitely not. Proper walking boots don't have a platform sole. If you want walking boots, Salomons are brilliant for narrower feet. Scarpa, Meindl and Merrell are all excellent.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 01/01/2021 20:11

These?

sproutburger · 01/01/2021 20:24

OP, are you going hiking in snow? If so they might be OK. If not and you plan to walk in the summer your feet will be boiling. Also you probably can't fit thick socks in them as they're fur lined, so you might have less cushioning (sore feet) and get blisters as one pair of socks may rub.

Where are you going to wear these? A gentle plod along a towpath or climbing big hills? Do you want proper walking boots, something comfy but cheap, or a fashion boot?

I have ones like these for hillwalking. www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15895342/scarpa-women-s-terra-ii-gtx-walking-boots-15895342

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 02/01/2021 08:23

No I won't be hiking in the snow, just the off muddy pathway. These then?
www.merrell.com/UK/en_GB/moab-2-8-inch-tactical-response-waterproof-boot/884401031425.html
You can probably gather I'd rather they were black.

OP posts:
NotMeNoNo · 02/01/2021 09:08

Yes why aren’t more walking boots black?
These might be a bit lighter and more comfortable.

sproutburger · 02/01/2021 10:36

Those high Merrell boots look ok at a push. You seem to like ones that look more like a fashion boot and the Merrell ones are probably fine for an average sunday afternoon walk in colder weather.

They might rub on the upper as they're high cut and they look more like work boots to me. They might also be a bit hot as your ankle is fully enclosed, and not as breathable as they're not gore-tex. They're also half a pound heavier than the Lowa boots and if you're on a long walk that can be quite tiring.

These are only 420 grammes so much lighter.

Do you need a wider, average or narrower fit?

NotMeNoNo · 02/01/2021 12:08

I guess the Merrell “tactical response” is a hint they are aimed at police/ military, might be a bit over featured for venturing onto occasional muddy fields.
OP if you look on sportsshoes.com they have walking boots and you can search by colour. Order loads to try on and size up for thick socks.

HeyLala · 03/01/2021 20:33

@PeaceLoveAndCandy

If you like the Nanettes, try the Sorel boots with Sweaty Betty. They look similar and are waterproof.
I'm using them for walking my dogs through fields and woods. They are comfortable and stylish.

ThundercloudYouBastard · 03/01/2021 20:52

@bumpdownthestairs

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Chunky!

RonaldMcDonald · 03/01/2021 21:49

@ShivD those Sorel’s are ace

ShivD · 03/01/2021 22:38

I know @RonaldMcDonald

I don’t particularly need a pair of waterproof boots but if I did, those are what I’d choose.
