Subtle mascara recommendations

Can anyone recommend? I don't usually wear mascara. I've tried loads (usually freebies - ysl, Chanel, Estée Lauder etc) and I always feel too glam in them. I just want one that is like 'my lashes but better' for a natural no make up look.

I guess I'm lucky as my lashes are dark and long already, so maybe that's why mascara looks too much?!

Anyway grateful if anyone can recommend please :)

You fortunately have long & dark, go for clear mascara it’ll define without adding too much colour
Superdrug do a clear mascara, it’s great to set eyebrows too

Good old basic Maybeline in the yellow tube. I’ve tried a few high end ones over the last couple of years but have gone back to Maybeline-I’ve worn it for years

I rate Glossier’s lash slick. Really natural and defined look, zero clumps ever, and so easy to take off

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 31/12/2020 22:06

Superdrug clear mascara

Estée Lauder little black eye tint

Clinique Lash Power, it's a natural looking tubing one. It does not budge until you swipe it away with warm water, you don't use eye make up remover. I never used to wear mascara but this converted me. It was my gateway to the world of mascara, since moved on but always have one of these on the go for my more natural days.

Blinc mascara is brilliant. I have long lashes and had having length or volume added. Blinc just gives them some colour. Bonus is its water proof but it comes off with water and rubbing.

Everley · 01/01/2021 13:28

I haven’t used it for years but I used to swear by Clinique Naturally Glossy when I wanted a bit of definition. Very subtle but makes eyes look groomed.

AliceinBunniland · 01/01/2021 13:30

If your lashes are long already and you want a natural look have you tried lightly brushing the mascara wand along the edges of your lashes? It will make your lashes look longer by defining the ends which are usually more tapered and less visible but without looking like you have loads of mascara on.

AliceinBunniland · 01/01/2021 13:44

Not sure whether I explained that well

For a natural look, I hold the mascara wand vertically and and move it across my lashes so that it lightly brushed the ends of my lashes and gives them some definition and makes them look longer.

Coffee4Queen · 01/01/2021 14:55

Seconding Blinc. I didn’t like it as I wanted full on glam but it is definitely a ‘your lashes but better’ mascara.

Fauvist · 01/01/2021 15:04

Clinique Naturally Glossy is the business.

lcdododo · 01/01/2021 15:05

Classic eye lash extensions.
Really natural looking and no mascara needed

Clinique Naturally Glossy used to be my mascara of choice for years and I recenty went back to it and love the effect - it's exactly what I want from a mascara.

BUT I now remember why I stopped using it - I get terrible smudging under my eyes by the end of the day.

Can anyone recommend a mascara that gives a similar effect but stays put?

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 01/01/2021 15:08

Clinique power lash. Industrial staying power,no flakes no smudge

onemouseplace · 01/01/2021 15:56

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

Clinique power lash. Industrial staying power,no flakes no smudge
Thank you! I shall give it a go.
DeadCertain · 01/01/2021 16:06

I have long, thick black eyelashes and love Clinique Lash Power too.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 01/01/2021 16:22

You remove by using warm water. Cleanser, micellar water won’t remove it
I remove the other make up with cleanser, then warm water to remove lash power. Hot cloth after hot water also works

mynewusernameisthis · 01/01/2021 16:30

Thank you all! I will have a Google. Interesting on the technique too, I'm definitely falling down there as well

With Other mascara, yes cleanser , or balms or micellar water will work

dontputitinyourmouth · 01/01/2021 19:09

Lash power will do the job and it does not move all day!

Chocolateteabag · 01/01/2021 19:40

Another Lash Power recent convert here
Mascara always smudged on me so I had stopped wearing it for years, then read by chance about tubing mascara in Nov and !!! It's a revelation! I suddenly have eyelashes!

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 01/01/2021 19:41

Tubing mascara are a game changer

Fauvist · 01/01/2021 19:54

I tried Blinx and really liked it but was unfortunately allergic. Very sad. It works brilliantly.
