Non-boring handbags

I've always gone for rather boring handbags and rucksacks: black and understated. But somehow these all seem old-ladyish to me now and I have a wild urge for something with a flash of colour. Mind you I wouldn't go so far as a novelty bag shaped like a cat or one that is so neon that I'd never use it.
Where do I look? What brands do this well?

Issey Miyake BaoBao. I got mine in the sale as they are expensive.

Marc Jacobs snapshot bag? Doesn’t hold much mind.

For colour I like Ted Baker.

Budget is key here and size? Do you need something tote size so you can throw everything in or will a small cross body suffice?

New Zealand brand called Yu Mei. Expensive - 300 pounds in NZ $ but wonderful colours, well constructed, soft deer leather, made in New Zealand so Good labour laws. Love mine.

I am in love with massaccesi. I found out about the brand here and they are not cheap, but reasonable for what they are. Marco Massaccesi is an artisan with a studio in Italy and they do semi-custom bags in the most beautiful colors and really great leather. The website is a little hard to navigate, but you can email with him and look at purse forum and find something great. I have a few bags from him now and the little tweaks are amazing. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

These are currently my absolute favourite. Good range of styles and colours. Good quality and have a bright coloured interior so it's easy to find stuff.

These look beautiful, and quite unusual.

Yoshi are made in the UK, some are appliqued pictures but some are just beautifully styled in bright colours.
I have three and love them all.

I love Yoshi bags for their sign and colour but was disappointed when I tried to clean one and it took the colour

Asked the company what to use and they were very dismissive and wouldn't recommend anything

So I am really trying not to buy anymore

I've just bought an APC "Betty" cross body bag in a beautiful red! It cheers me up.
Mind you, I am quite old so maybe it's an old lady bag!

Fossil bags are nice

Might be considered a bit boring but I Iove, love, love Longchamp Le Pliage large totes. Come in all manner of colors, practical as can be used with or without a handbag insert and (I think) stylish in a classical way.
