Anyone tried Dermatica for acne?

I just joined Dermatica tonight and have my fingers crossed it will help!

I’ve been on skin + me for 11 weeks and my skin has never looked worse. I was on tret (0.021), clindamycin and az acid. Before I started, I had just a couple of spots but acne scars and textured skin that is starting to age (I’m 34). The tret purge kicked in around week 6 and now my face is absolutely horrific. Spots everywhere, even cysts in areas that I don’t usually get spots.

Epiduo always helped before (my skin seems to need benzoyl peroxide) but I wanted to find something to help with the quality of my skin.

I’m not willing to wait out the purge as there are no signs of it going, so have switched to Dermatica.

Anyone had success with this company?

I’ve had that too, my skin doesn’t really like Tret but I’m using dermatica for pigmentation but only putting it on 5hose areas.

I’d leave it off and let it calm down.

@Fluffycloudland77

Problem is, I need something (benzoyl peroxide) otherwise my acne won’t go. I’ve never been able to use nothing!

Can’t you get the dr to prescribe you something instead?. If benzoyl peroxide doesn’t get rid of it maybe an antibiotic would help?.

Duac cream from the GP. And then laser resurfacing once your skin is clear. The laser treatment has a downtime of ten days though; it’s quite brutal.

I figure the formulas from Skin and Me and Dermatica will be pretty similar. If you aren’t tolerating Tret well, changing company may not help. However I have found Dermatica great for acne, my prescription was clindamycin, Tret and niacinamide, which reduces oil.

Like @TableNiner I've had success with Dermatica. Been using it for around 4 months now and am amazed in the difference to my skin.

I'm just starting my third month of Dermatica (anti aging rather than acne) and I've been really pleased with it. My face looks brighter and age spots have significantly reduced. Hopefully it will work as well for you!

Hi OP. I’ve tried Dermatica and Skin + Me and have to be honest and say I’ve stopped with both of them. Very similar reaction to you with the purging and after 7 months of much worse skin decided it wasn’t worth it any more. My face was covered in painful, flaking areas which wouldn’t heal.

I’ve gone back to a very basic regime for now while my skin recovers.

Thanks, everyone!

I wish I hadn’t messed around. Thank God for face masks at the moment, that’s all I can say!!

@TableNiner I have the same prescription as you, I have been using mine since September. My skin really tolerated it well until very recently, when I started to get the flaky/dry patches I was expecting at the beginning! Did you get dryness, and if so, when did it appear?! Currently dropped down to every other night, and am moisturising like made!

TableNiner · 31/12/2020 23:41

@SconNotScone I’ve not had any dryness at all (using since June), but I have used tretinoin before, for about a year prior to that.

You could try using hyaluronic acid on damp skin before using moisturiser. I also apply the Dermatica and wait a while before adding an occlusive, non fragranced moisturiser.

SconNotScone · 01/01/2021 20:46

@TableNiner I suspect the cold weather has had something to do with it to be honest! I will keep slapping on the moisturiser! Thankfully it's not dreadful, nor is it sore, I'm sure it will clear up soon.
