I've developed huge ugly red spots. Mostly on my face but also in the bra strap area and on the collar bone. The ones near my mouth hurt. I've a couple next to my nose, going up my face towards my eye (currently on one side).
It started with a couple before Christmas and now I have loads.
It must be hormonal, I assume (every thing is). I don't get periods since I had a mirina coil fitted 18months ago.
What can I do to stop them? I'm not coming off the coil, it fixed my pmdd and I was previously suicidal, so in the scheme of things I'm better off.

I don't wear a mask a lot. I'm not a rebel, I work from home and mainly socialise and exercise outside (I also swim, so wear a mask for less than 5 minutes entering and exiting the pool). OH does the majority of the shopping. Also a mask wouldn't explain the ones lower down.

Please share your experiences and cures. In normal times I'd consider going to the Dr but given the era, I'd rather not.

You can send a photo to your GP so you dont have to visit in person and you can discuss the coil being a possible reason over the phone.

It could be from central heating getting hot and sweaty when it turns itself on.

Have you started using a new shampoo or conditioner? Or has a current one changed its formula

It could be from bites maybe from bugs, spiders etc.

Ask for a prescription for epiduo gel. It'll clear the hard red ones up in no time and as it's topical no need to take antibiotics which come with other problems

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/12/2020 22:08

I was 40 with the implant when I went cystic, you need the dr to prescribe you a treatment,

Don’t piss about with exclusion diets etc and otc treatments because that’s how I ended up with scars.

I took roaccutane & had the implant removed. I was on it for endo.

I thought I was the only one! 41 years old and developed sore red spots about 2 weeks after each period. On my head, chest, face and back.

It's awful isn't it. Are yours like mine? (Gross pictures attached...)

I thought I'd just have to put up with it so thanks for starting this thread. Hopefully you'll get something to help.

I still get spots at 51. The thing that has worked for me over the years is Zineryt topical antibiotic from my GP.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/12/2020 22:53

No one has to put up with acne.

Polkagrisar · 29/12/2020 23:28

Had the same problem and eventually asked my GP for help as it got so bad. He prescribed antibiotics and cleared up completely in a month. Wish I had sought help earlier. All over the phone as well!

I have had a lifetime of this! I now use Neutrogena face wash - orange ones - there are 2 strengths, i use the stronger one when in an outbreak. If I have an outbreak I also use nivea toner. I then use L'Oréal serum and moisturisers as they are light enough to not cause spots. Then Revlon oil free foundation if going out.

I find that using the face wash and toner on my neck or upper arms and sometimes the face moisturiser or nice body moisturiser (minus foundation!) helps keep these areas clear too.

I'm in my late 20s and had the worst acne I've ever had in my life recently. I started using clearasil cleansing pads in the morning & evening after a gentle cleanse and then clearasil toner before moisturising and my skin is now clearer than ever. Just have post acne pigmentation to worry about now :( .

Nohomemadecandles · 31/12/2020 11:10

My GP looked at a mole for me via photos. I'd give them a call anyway.

It might be easily fixed for you. I hope so. It can really get you down, can't it?

WhatInFreshHell · 31/12/2020 11:19

I'm going to second the Epiduo...fabulous stuff! My acne was awful, the Epiduo has completely cleared my face.

BangingOn · 31/12/2020 11:44

Anti Acne Club supplements have been life changing for me. I am the same age as you and had very similar spots. I was cynical but desperate and they offer a money back guarantee so gave it a shot. My skin is now incredibly clear with no hormonal sports for 3 months.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I'll be giving the GP a ring and having a nosy around boots for some Neutrogena for in between times.
