Sort my skin for my wedding!

Hi after some help/ advice please! I’ve never had great skin and turn 30 next year and getting married early 2022 so really want to focus on it in the new year! I have zero clue on products/ routine as my mum never really did too much herself and I guess I just followed. What’s the best way for me to find out products to suit my skin? And get an idea of a routine? I’m thinking go to a spa/ therapist for facials and see what they recommend but conscious they probably just want to sell products too 🤷🏽‍♀️ Thanks!

What kind of problems do you have? If it’s acne don’t waste money on products go straight to the dr for prescription strength.

Good point 😅 sort of generally spotty, combination dull skin 🥴 I was given a contraceptive pill for my skin from 16 which I do think helped with spots but had a baby in June and not gone back onto it.

Ok, so drs for the spots and if your not breast feeding prescription strength tretonoin, off skin+me which is an online dermatologist, to lighten any scarring & generally improve skin texture etc, then sunblock daily because tretonoin makes skin sensitive to UV. Plus general healthy living etc.

Women’s complicated hormone profile does seem to make us acne prone. When you go back onto contraception avoid the progesterone based ones because that’s how I got cystic acne, dr never checked if I was acne prone before prescribing the implant.

Another recommendation for drs. I had problems with my skin for 4 years after babies and went to my GP and it was clear within 4 weeks - she gave me an antibiotic cream.

Maybe look at your diet and drink more water, stop any refined sugar/processed foods, since stopping these my skin which is a similar type to yours has had minimal outbreaks. It’s hard at first but you soon lose the taste for sweet things.

Don’t get a facial or any new products the month before the wedding either, if you’re going to be allergic to something it will be when you’re stressed to the max because of the wedding.

I got married last December and approx. 5 months before I went for a free skin consultation with Sk:n - it was amazing, they did a full analysis of my skin and suggested a routine that really helped as I was totally honest with them in saying I didn't cleanse in the morning and didn't have a great regime.

Best of luck, I know it's hard but try not to stress about the wedding! Keep calm as much as possible Smile

Good suggestions thank you everyone! Giving myself plenty of time before wedding to hopefully avoid any reactions and not get too stressed about it!
Also definitely need to drink more water, and lay off the Xmas chocs.... 😳
