Best bargain moisturiser?

I’m so sick of wasting money on crap that does nothing! My skin is not the best i still want to take care of it and would prefer not to waste money on lots of cheap bits for them to be thrown away. Any cheap buys that you think are amazing for skin care particularly moistures? Thanks in advance Grin

Aldi do a copy of Clinique Moisture Surge which is pretty much identical to the actual thing. I can't remember what it's called but it's in a pink box and is more of a gel than a cream

Pinkiii · 29/12/2020 18:57

Depends on your skin type really.

I have very dry skin and nothing works better than good old Nivea.

I also really liked superdrugs own vitamin e range.

Night cream- aldi caviar cream is great!

Orf1abc · 29/12/2020 19:00

The Cerave PM cream has left me seriously underwhelmed.

The Aldi gel one was pretty good, though I'd need something stronger in the winter.

What is your skin type?

lcdododo · 29/12/2020 19:00

Simple

Prettybubblesintheair · 29/12/2020 19:09

I absolutely love boots “yourgoodskin” range. I have oily spot prone skin, fine lines, redness and enlarged pores and their range has sorted all that AND improved my acne scars and overall tone. I use the exfoliating skin brightening face wash, skin balancing concentrate, daily moisturiser am then pm I use (a biore rose quartz face wash after removing make up with YGS micellar water) skin balancing concentrate and overnight cream or sleep repair paste. The range is really good value and often has deals on. It’s the absolute best skin products I’ve ever used, I deviated to The Ordinary and went back to YGS.

ThatLibraryMiss · 29/12/2020 19:11

I use layers: first pat on this one, let it dry a bit, then this one. Let that dry then top them off with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream.

The two lotions are expensive to start but you use so little they last for months. The Neutrogena's often on offer at Boots, Superdrug or supermarkets. It's another (cheaper) version of Clinique Moisture Surge. Neutrogena is part of the same group as Clinique.

My face feels really comfortable, never tight and itchy as it sometimes used to be with just moisturiser.

Thanks so much everyone for your replies my skin is combination but sensitive I’m 25 but look older due to Sunbed’s when I was younger trying to rectify my mistakes Sad definitely going to have a look at some of these i hate wasting lots of plastic trying to find the one.

SR Skincare. Inexpensive range but very effective.

redcandlelight · 29/12/2020 20:27

nivea blue pot (very rich though)
or the nivea q10 dupes from aldi

Cleanestcleaner · 29/12/2020 20:29

Used to LOVE simple but about 18 months ago they changed it and it was burning my face I was so upset as I literally adored it and my skin was always perfect with it 😞

Sexnotgender · 29/12/2020 20:29

Astral! It’s amazing.

waitinggame108 · 29/12/2020 20:30

QV Cream, Highly concentrated moisturising cream for dry skin, 100ml https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009F72YUI/ref=cmswwrcppapifabccDf56FbBH2KBDB?encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Fantastic product, recommend to me by a dermatologist. Fragrance free, does not separate under makeup either.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 29/12/2020 20:35

Ultra Bee Exeskin is amazing!

FlyingByTheSeatof · 29/12/2020 21:04

Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum is an absolute godsend for sensitive and combination skin and a really great price.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/12/2020 21:07

Your using the wrong product if you’re trying to reverse sunbed damage. You need a proper spf 50 applied daily even if I’m not going out I wear sunblock & a retinol product to improve skin texture and preserve collagen.

Plus a healthy diet and try not to drink alcohol.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 29/12/2020 21:07

You might be overdoing it on the cleansers so stick with a decent facewash like Cerave SA and to remove makeup use Superdrug cleanser - Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser - all of these are very popular for good reason and probably on sale now.

VanillaAndOrange · 29/12/2020 21:08

I like Nivea, and I've heard good things about the Cien range in Lidl too.

MNBookNerd · 29/12/2020 22:27

I also like Nivea Q10 - it's often on offer for around a fiver and they do a day version and richer night time cream. I have dry, sensitive skin and find this moisturising enough without being so greasy that my foundation slips off which I've experienced with other creams intended for dry skin.

Henneypenny7 · 30/12/2020 00:29

Thanks I’m going to try the nivea & the Aldi Smile @Fluffycloudland77 any spf and retinol recommendations I used Inkey list and Sunday Riley but made me look older I’m almost sure of ofSad

I have loved Superdrug’s B ranges - B nourished, B revived etc - they have them for about 4 different age ranges. Really excellent.

Apileofballyhoo · 30/12/2020 01:15

SPF
La Roche Posay Anthelios any of them, depending on your skin type. Usually on offer somewhere online or in Boots. Make sure you're applying in sufficient quantity or you won't get the protection stated on the bottle. Usually 2.5ml for face and neck.

Retinol is drying so that's why your skin might have appeared older. Brands to consider - Paula's Choice, Avene, LRP, Medik8.

You might consider using a vitamin C serum. I think your skin has less vitamin C from your mid twenties. Timeless is recommended over and over again as a very good dupe for the very expensive Skinceuticals.

I have The Inkey List SPF but it's only 30 and you can't get it near your eyes.

I use CeraVe moisturising lotion in the big bottle though I also have the facial moisturiser. I think the big bottle is probably better but the other has niacinamide in it so I use both. If my skin feels it needs it I layer LRP Cicaplast over the top.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 30/12/2020 01:26

I buy Boots cucumber moisturiser for £1.50 a pot. They usually have a 3 for 2 offer on too! I’m 46 and have been mistaken for late 20s by my friend’s DD Grin and horrifyingly mistaken for my DS’s wife last week BlushGrin so it obviously does the trick!

I’ve also recently bought an Olay Regenerist night cream which was £20 - extortionate for me, but got great reviews. It does feel really smooth the next day, but at the moment I don’t really see anyone so can’t comment if anyone has noticed!

Joinedtosayhello · 30/12/2020 01:34

Agree with PP about a good SPF. This should be separate (not one of those moisturisers with it ‘built in’) and applied on top of your daytime moisturiser, year round (not just when it’s sunny). Then double cleanse at the end of the day to remove it.

earsup · 30/12/2020 02:36

I have been using Nivea Q10 for a few weeks it's the night cream and also the Q10 boost serum and have noticed a difference already.. daytime and if going out I use the neutrogena hydro boost gel or creme..on offer now for £7 or 8 at boots.. gives my skin a fresh Dewey glow !!

kirkandpetal · 30/12/2020 04:44

Balance Me Rose Otto Oil - I used to use am and pm but now just use in the am prior to moisturiser. The oil is so warming and sinks in, isn't 'oily' and makes my skin feel instantly soothed, plumper and more even. A bottle lasts me about 4 months.

Moisturiser - I love origins Ginzing range for many reasons but the smell is gorgeous. Think zesty oranges!

I'm also trying to use up many, many moisturiser samples and so far also rate Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Boost and Balance Me's Moisture Rich face cream.
