A nice looking but warm coat

I have a parka and a puffy coat but I need a nice warm coat. I keep seeing people strolling around in some nice checked numbers and I think I could do with one of these and also a classic black or block colour too. BUT how do you get one that’s warm?! I never seem to be able to get them both warm and smart. Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Wool but its ££. If you know the style Ebay is good.

Have just bought this in the Ralph Lauren sale. The sale price is still about double the amount I have ever spent on a single item of clothing, but it looks great and is warm (wool and cashmere). The model is tall, willowy and beautiful - I am short, fat and ugly, but it even looks ok on me. So I’d thoroughly recommend if you can afford it - I couldn’t but still bought it though.

Agree wool and cashmere is the way to go - or good quality heavy imitation fur
My old jaeger wool coats are much warmer than any parkas I’ve found
