Premium Shampoo & Conditioner

I'm planning to treat myself to some high end shampoo & conditioner with some Xmas money I've got. I've never bought it before as I've never seen the point but since having olaplex at the salon, I've reconsidered and want to give it a try. If it is worth it then I plan to keep on using it.

I'm looking at keratase, redken and olaplex at the moment but does anyone have any words of wisdom or experience where one is just not worth the money? I really want to choose the right one so I love it!

I saw a news program once that advised all shampoos are basically the same so if your going to splash out to do so on nice conditioner. I'm no expert but I've always remembered that and stuck to it 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the recommendations. Will take a look. They are similar price to AVeda so worth a look

Aveda Damage Remedy was a game changer for me .

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2020 08:50

I’ve heard all shampoo is the same but there’s something about aveda that other shampoos just don’t have and I have no idea what it is.

I use very cheap skincare, sunblocks, make up because I can’t tell the difference between cheap and expensive but I’m willing to pay for aveda shampoo and use aveda salons for my hair cuts.

I am using John Frieda’s Nourish and Cherish shampoo and conditioner and occasionally the hair mask. I love his hair products and my hair is certainly looking smoother and shinier. I also use Olaplex 3 when I have been swimming (but not allowed to do that at the moment).

Does anybody have any recommendations for greasy roots but dry ends?

cockneygirl · 31/12/2020 10:13

Pureology - I spend a fortune on my hair every month at the hairdresser. And this shampoo and conditioner is amazing. And if you believe what your read apparently Rosie Huntingdon whitely uses it too.

Day two of the no shampoo shampoo. My hair was awful this morning, but I'd been sweating all night with a heavy cold. So I washed it with the "new hair" this morning. It's looking very shiny and has even more volume. Apparently it takes two weeks to wash out all the silicones and sulfates that build up from shampoo and conditioner... it feels, well, like hair!

shallbe · 31/12/2020 15:52

@Rollergirl11 sorry if you're already doing this but I make sure I don't condition the roots as I'm prone to greasy hair, I just put conditioner from the point my hair bobble would tie, down to the ends.

Wasn't impressed with olapex at all.

Bananaman123 · 31/12/2020 20:24

I love redken but find it too heavy to use on my fine oily hair everyday. I alternate with lee stafford keep it clean if im feeling very oily and philip kingsley when i dont want anything heavy.

Im trying olaplex just now too, the christmas set but honestly im not getting the hype

TuxedoPantherSheHer · 01/01/2021 08:29

Christophe Robin Prickly Pear stuff is great.

Used to like Rahua a lot too.

starlight36 · 01/01/2021 12:15

Living proof range is great and stocked at M&S. I often stock up when I get 20% off vouchers from beauty with my Sparks.

I have a litre bottle of Aveda Shampure in the shower , don;t like the Shampure Conditioner so I use the Damage Therapy or the Leave -In conditioner .

If my scalp is being stroppy the BodyShop Ginger - followed by the Ginger Conditioner - will sort it , but I find it can make my hair dry if used too much

woodhill · 01/01/2021 13:15

Aveda seemed really good and my hair doesn't tangle with this product, you know that bit on the back of the crown gets tatty

HedgieHog · 01/01/2021 22:15

Used to use aveda religiously when I was young and without financial responsibility then started getting the cheaper brands, currently using tigi bed head or John Frieda but tempted with aveda again.
If the cherry smells like the old vidal sassoon I’m sold, I loved that stuff

CharlotteRose90 · 01/01/2021 22:35

Not sure it’s called as premium but I love joico and their ranges. Best thing I ever did for my hair

Blushtassel · 02/01/2021 10:02

I second Davines, I use Nou Nou and it’s amazing.
