I'm planning to treat myself to some high end shampoo & conditioner with some Xmas money I've got. I've never bought it before as I've never seen the point but since having olaplex at the salon, I've reconsidered and want to give it a try. If it is worth it then I plan to keep on using it.

I'm looking at keratase, redken and olaplex at the moment but does anyone have any words of wisdom or experience where one is just not worth the money? I really want to choose the right one so I love it!

Christoph Robin is my current fav.

I've used Aveda and used to love Kerastase but when we moved to a house with a water softener it made my hair really greasy with Kerastase.

Touchitmoveit · 30/12/2020 14:40

Have you ever tried Davines?

Their Oi range is lovely, moisturising but clarifying too. I like their milk too. My go-to range!

ame88 · 30/12/2020 14:44

I've been using the olaplex range for the last few weeks and cannot recommend enough! My bleached her is thanking me for the change!

Rina66 · 30/12/2020 14:45

I love Kerastase but I also intersperse Pantene hair biology which I think is amazing for the price - everyone I’ve told to use it agrees

Olaplex is amazing, but more so the treatments rather than the shampoo and conditioner - I tend to use a good shampoo & conditioner then use the olaplex every couple of weeks.
Just bought my dd an olaplex set for Xmas (3,4,5,6) which was £48 using a 20% code, good way to be able to try the different types without spending £25 a bottle.

I do love kerastase and Philip Kingsley as mentioned above, I’ve recently been using milkshake shampoo and conditioner which I’m loving! I always change my shampoos and conditioners periodically.

I’ve got new bottles of cherry almond aveda here, not tried these ones before but I’m excited to see what they’re like, they smell amazing!

Tigi Bedhead Elasticate is brilliant, especially if your hair is in any way dry or damaged. I tried Kerastase before but it didn't suit my hair at all.

JackiesCrimbleCrumble · 30/12/2020 15:01

Oribe is the best I've ever used.
The smell is incredible, I've even bought the perfume they do which is a similar scent to the products.

BlueThistles · 30/12/2020 15:14

Great shampoos 🌺

maybemove · 30/12/2020 15:21

Ooh I love the oribe dry shampoo but never tried any of the other products

AllGongNoDinner · 30/12/2020 15:51

Have a look at qvc you can order shampoos on there and you can return if you don’t like it

Good point about the water softness of your area whoever mentioned it

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 30/12/2020 16:14

I hate Kerastase, really dried my hair out.

I like Tigi Bed Head. But l honestly think Tresemme is fine.

GinandGingerBeer · 30/12/2020 16:20

Take a look at nexus. It's not massively expensive (on offer in boots atm) and they do a keraphix rich version along with a rice protein mask which is fantastic if you have colour treated hair.
Nadine baggot also recommended it the other day in her best if 2020 videos

LeSquigh · 30/12/2020 16:21

I’m currently using TIGI Bed Head for coloured hair. It has some sort of added oil and smells like gingerbread which is lovely. I quite like this. Have never really bothered with shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair before now which is ridiculous as I’ve had coloured hair for three quarters of my life. Also tried Olaplex 3-6 but didn’t rate it at all. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is BRILLIANT and for me well worth the money.

BoJingle · 30/12/2020 18:20

Tkmaxx and qvc are good tips, I never think to look in either of those places so will definitely check them out. I had my hair done yesterday, roots bleached and all toned and am marvelling at the softness of it thanks to the olaplex. My hair hated bleach pre olaplex and would be so brittle.

The suggestion of trial sizes is excellent too. I'm going to order a few things tonight. My salon fresh swishy hair is telling me to get on with it!

@Karcheer which of the shampoo/ conditioner would you recommend? I use a Veda or l'occitane usually and this brand ( new to me) is a similar price so worth a go

Karcheer · 30/12/2020 20:26

@Sooverthemill this shampoo www.christopherobin.co.uk/brightening-shampoo-with-camomile-and-cornflower/10556825.html

Karcheer · 30/12/2020 20:28

@Sooverthemill I’m using this conditioner www.christopherobin.co.uk/volumizing-conditioner-with-rose-extracts/10595495.html it’s has a strong rose smell so if you don’t like rose you won’t like this

NottinghamFlorest · 30/12/2020 21:12

@fiorentina

I use Aveda shampoo and conditioner and their Damage Remedy instead of Olaplex. I really rate them.
Which aveda shampoo and conditioner do you use?
NottinghamFlorest · 30/12/2020 21:12

@margaritasbythesea

I trued Redken and I wasn't impressed. My best ever was something called Humectress but I don't know where to buy it anymore. Aveda is also very good .

@Fluffycloudland77

I always go back to aveda, it’s not tested on animals like most big brands but the parent company still tests.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/12/2020 21:25

Cherry almond. I like damage remedy too.

Cherry almond smells like that Vidal Sassoon one years ago. We all remember that.

mamaca · 31/12/2020 02:48

Another vote for Aveda here - I use shampure shampoo and conditioner, they smell amazing and I really do notice the difference in my hair!

Stationfork · 31/12/2020 03:30

Aveda shampure here too. Invested last year for the first time and won't go back
