Babyliss Curl Secret.

I have some Christmas money and I’m thinking of treating myself to one of these. I have a shoulder length layered bob which varies from wavy to curly but never really looks cared for. I have tried both sizes of the BigHair which work well to smooth my hair and give it bounce, but the effect rarely lasts beyond a few hours, and I prefer a curlier look.
Can anyone recommend it, and if so, which one? I’m a bit confused between the options, the Simplicity seems to be much cheaper, but I can’t see how it differs from the more expensive one and then there seems to be a gift set one as well. Or any other alternatives- I’m not very handy and can’t manage curling tongs without burning myself !

I won’t be much help as I hated mine, it was too fiddly to use.
Much prefer the Big Hair

I got one for Christmas, I’ve only used it once so not the best person to help but I found it a bit tricky to use, especially for the back of my head. I found it quite heavy to hold as well and got my hair tangled in it a few times (easy to get out and nothing to panic about). Will persevere as the front looked really nice when I got it done, just the back was a pain to do.

Honestly don’t bother, they are heavy and cumbersome to use, yes it does give decent curls that last but it will take you absolutely ages to do it and it’s just not worth the hassle or the effort.

After spending stupid money on the curl secret and being less than impressed I went out and bought a £20 curing wand. It gives me the best curls, is really versatile and easy to use and I can curl my hair in a matter of minutes and mine is much longer than yours. If I spend a good 20 minutes curling it properly with the wand, my hair will hold the curl for 2/3 days and I do that only on the medium heat setting so I’m not having to fry my hair in order to get it to hold the shape either which is a big plus.

Don't waste your money. Takes ages and very fiddly, and cumbersome as others have said.

I brought a curl secret a while back, my hair got really tangled in it. My hair is now just below my shoulders, my hair was longer when it got tangled. I found it ok to use & gave lovely curls.

PintOfPrawns · 28/12/2020 19:04

Hated mine. It either tangled my hair or made me look like Shirley Temple.

An update. I bought it and it arrived today. I’ve had a play and so far I’m really impressed. It may help that my hair has a curl to it naturally and is only shoulder length but so far so good. It is a bit fiddly, and I will definitely need practice, but I’m pleased.

I really like it, but it’s definitely something you need to practice with and develop the skill to it!

MoltonSilver · 09/01/2021 10:38

It made me Iook like I was growing out a bad perm - ringlets with flat roots.

Howzaboutye · 09/01/2021 10:57

It's great on my hair! Love it, have fun
