Which hair product?

Evening all!
Pic attached taken from Pinterest. How do I keep my hair swept back like this please? I've tried hair spray and many different types of wax but after an hour or so it falls down.

I would have thought mousse as you blow dry it back, to give the height and direction, then hairspray to give some hold.
Just a guess though!

I've never used mousse before, do you use it on dry or wet hair please? And thank you for the reply

Mousse is used on wet hair.

Dh was a punk and kept a 13” Mohican vertical with sugar water but it was the 1980’s.

I remember when mousse was mainstream, this thread makes me think it’s a granny product now.

I'd use gel.

With gel, does it make it look really wet? I want a more natural look. The only experience in have is memories of the girls in my year at high school using it and it made hair look very wet.

Yeah, wax etc will be heavy

Not all gels are wet look. Go for extra hold and just put it on the roots.

So mousse when wet then blow dry and use gel on the roots? Then hairspray to finish?
I've seen some tigi bedhead small talk volume stuff in a pump dispenser which I'm not sure is any good on short hair?
