Your fave foundation..?

So I've been using Benefit hello flawless foundation for years and years now; but recently I've found it's really breaking me out and drying my skin out, too..

I've not changed my skincare routine at all, not using any new products.. so I have absolutely no idea why this is suddenly happening!

When I wear it now, I find that my skin looks visibly dry and cakey in areas.

Can anybody recommend a good foundation? I like a buildable coverage ❤️

I love Huda's foundation. I've tried many expensive ones from Dior, YSL, Armani, Estée Lauder, Fenty, Clinique, Charlotte Tilbury (worst), Bobby Brown and Mac (easy and colour matches nicely). For daily supermarket or out and about I use Maybelline Fit me foundation which is way better than the expensive ones I mentioned above and Huda for when I'm going to be taking pictures or special days.

I've tried absolutely everything. Too faced, Mac, no.7, Laura mercier, Charlotte Tillbury... Everything goes patchy or slides off or goes cakey except for Phoera. Which is handy because it's only about £5.
I think foundation is trial and error and you just have to find what suits your skin.

I either wear Clinique even better glow or Chanel CC cream.

LightOfAThousandStars · 26/12/2020 21:26

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, doesn't cause breakouts and looks great om

mooncats · 26/12/2020 21:30

Second Chanel VA

Glossier skin tint is amazing. Feels like you've barely got anything on. That and a tiny bit of finishing powder lasts all day as well.

emma6776 · 26/12/2020 22:13

Estée Lauder cc in the gold tube or EL tinted moisturiser. In the days when we were allowed out I used to wear IT Cosmetics cc cream if I needed to look flawless. (Only a person sized amount as it’s far more coverage than a foundation).

Lollypop701 · 26/12/2020 22:14

What type of skin do you have op?

printedlace · 26/12/2020 22:17

Thank you all!

@Lollypop701 I've got combination skin, mostly normal with areas of dryness - t-zone can become oily but not excessively x

I used to use IT Cosmetics but it didn’t last on me very well, tried Double Wear and hate it. Using a Clinique one now and it’s fab.
Actually I use a little bit of Rosalique first to even out my skin and then foundation on top. Some days just the Rosalique if I’m not at work.

justgeton · 26/12/2020 22:21

Estée Lauder Double Wear.

Tried so many others over the years, keep going back to it

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/12/2020 22:45

I like YSL All Hours. I dabble with others but they are always expensive mistakes!

Tinks15 · 26/12/2020 22:47

Nars radiant longwear gives such a lovely finish.

Lolalovesroses · 26/12/2020 23:25

Tried everything but always go back to Forever Dior and Dior Star. I use the star on my cheekbones. My sister in law is a beautician and let me try her La Mer soft fluid foundation and pressed powder, it looked amazing on, lasted all day and definitely knocked a few years off. It's 95 a bottle and the pressed powder is £75 though Shock! I've e-mailed them and requested some samples. I don't want to splash out and find out I was just having a good day!

Bobbi Brown or Max Factor.

hellohello202011 · 26/12/2020 23:30

I've been using givenchy eclat matissime for many years now. It's light, and it has amazing smell, but not too strong. It's pricey, now that I am a SAHM 😄

stanski · 26/12/2020 23:32

I've been using bare minerals

KnowlWay · 26/12/2020 23:33

I like True Match or Touché Eclat.
A daily exfoliator might be agitating your skin. Hydraulic acid helped mine. Caroline Hirons is a good follow.

LovelyBranches · 27/12/2020 00:16

Clarins Everlasting is my absolute favourite. It doesn’t oxidise, it builds really well and the coverage is great. It’s also the best colour match I’ve had.
