Ankle boots for midi dresses

Im really trying to get this look right but the ankle boots i have just look “wring” with my midi dresses. Im not sure if they're too pointy or the heel is too thin?? can anyone who has gotten this look down please help a girl out and point me in the right direction of what I should be looking for? I know i can do this, but I need a bit of help. Im tall, 43, size 12/14, if this helps..

I wear black Chelsea boots with mine. Dr Martens also look nice but depends on the style of dress and the dress wearer!

Thank you for your reply. I have dr Martens, the chelsea boot, cant remember the actual name but they cost me €170 and absolutely broke my feet! Never again lol

I have Clark's Orinoco boots with elastic sides and I wear them with midi dresses.
