Thigh length warm coat

Looking for recommendations for a thigh or knee length coat for the school run. It must have a hood and be as warm as possible (I really feel the cold)

I like the look of the north face metropolis 3 in ponderosa green but can't find it in my size.

Is it better to have down or go with the eco synthetic fillings?

Down will be warmer but not so great in the rain unless the coat has a waterproof outer shell. If you like Metropolis puffa style have a look at Jack Wolfskin and Tog 24, they have similar styles. Didriksons are good as well but can be a bit long. North Face also has the Brooklyn Parka that is shorter and warm with down filling.

I second the helly hansen coat linked. Its fully waterproof and to be honest amazing! I think it's very flattering too considering it a puffer. Get lots of complaints on it.
