A whole patch on my face has changed colour

A whole patch on my cheek has gone whiter than the rest. Only noticed it the last week. It’s slightly bigger than a £2 coin. Will check with GP after Christmas but just wondered if anyone has experienced the same?

Do see a Dr. Is it round? If we I could be fungal eg tinea versicolour. I would get some nizoral shampoo and wash with it (google directions).
