Hello all, hoping I might get some advice. My skin of late is terrible. I have never had spots before but I having small breakouts. Also, my skin can be oily and yet dry, so a combination. It can be really irritable and itchy at times. I have tried loads of different things on my skin, I have spent a fortune. My hair has thinned out a lot as well. I have had blood tests at the doctors, all clear. I am 45, thinking could be the menopause.

I have a healthy diet, I drink a lot of water.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can use on my face? Currently using Elemis sos and their hydro face cream but still no improvement.

Can anyone share any advice please x

As I've aged the best thing I did was stop using soap/detergents to clean my face. I now just oil cleanse at night and morning just splash with water.
I also use a rich cream at night time, don't avoid products with oil as the oil will tell your skin not to over produce sebum.

Also avoid sugar, hormonal spots get much worse when I eat sugar. Keep drinking loads of water and eat more greens.

It will take a couple of weeks to adjust but it will make a difference.

Don’t bother with creams etc, see the dr for prescription products with a clear time frame of how long a treatment should be given before escalating.

I had this at 40, went cystic at 41 and to use roaccutane. I could have nipped it in the but I was too busy wasting my time on skincare & now I have scars.

Acne is a bacterial skin infection, the skincare companies have hijacked it as being all our fault & we just need to buy their products to get rid of it.

Probably is the menopause. I got horrible hormonal spots on my chin. I switched to cleansing twice a day with Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm and that seemed to help. Am now on HRT and skin is fine, but started the Elemis stuff way before that.

@Xxxwhattodonextxxx I stick to minimal products with minimal faff. I never use a toners or serums. I use a Hot cloth cleanser by Botanics from Boots.
Tweek'd by nature 5in 1 rescue cream at night, I also use Vit C cream with spf by Bodyshop in the day.

The best thing is to cut out sugar.
