Tier 4, root colour too dark help!

I’m in Tier 4 and it looks like we may be in it for a while - my hair was desperate but hairdresser was booked up til Jan and now looking unlikely I’ll see her for a bit. Soooo I coloured my own roots but they way too dark - how do I lift the colour? Is there something I can use to make the colour fade quickly?

Head and shoulders might work

hopeishere · 22/12/2020 13:20

Yeah just wash it lots with a strong shampoo.

Coffeepot72 · 22/12/2020 13:23

Definitely head and shoulders

Disabrie22 · 22/12/2020 15:09

Thanks all

My mum did this, made herself look like Elvis!
Hairdresser suggested baby shampoo as the best option ( head & shoulders didn’t work )

TiredMary · 22/12/2020 19:38

The original Vosene

Coffeepot72 · 22/12/2020 19:48

@nancy75 I’m trying to picture what Elvis’s roots looked like … !

nancy75 · 22/12/2020 20:15

@Coffeepot72, sadly it wasn’t just the roots, she managed a full, all over Elvis jet black 😂

nancy75 · 22/12/2020 20:16

On the plus side, she said it was very shiny - a bit like plastic!

Disabrie22 · 22/12/2020 21:34

Has anyone tried a colour stripper?

OP posts:
Vitaminsss · 22/12/2020 21:36

Can you post a photo or describe the colour?

Dark colours tend to fade quickly, especially if it’s box dye. I would just leave it a couple of weeks before considering a colour stripper. A colour stripper will leave your hair a brassy orange tone, it’s essentially a light application of bleach

Disabrie22 · 23/12/2020 15:45

Have popped photo on - you can see it’s very dark - I had a sort of baylage but the grey was very obvious coming through. I really regret it as have washed and washed and looks bad!!

I used crushed bit C and head and shoulders last night for hours 😩

Fairy liquid helps shift it a bit but you'll need some good conditioner afterwards.

Recruit2020 · 23/12/2020 16:08

Colourless by Revolution - you wont regret it. I WAS AMAZED as was everyone else. Total game changer.

Recruit2020 · 23/12/2020 16:10

It may not be revolution. Its in a silver sparkly box. New phone and no pics or I would show you my transformation!

cbt944 · 24/12/2020 06:50

Olive or other oil. Apply liberally. Then shampoo out (Head and Shoulders, or a cheap shampoo should do the trick).

MargosKaftan · 24/12/2020 08:40

At this stage if the other tips on here don't work, I'd go for a semi permanent colour over all the rest to darken it to match. Not the colour you want, but at least you won't have a stripe and hopefully the semi permanent colour will last until you can get to the hairdresser to sort it.
