Help please wise and stylish Mumsnetters.
What style of long wedding dress would flatter a 5 foot 6 inch size 16/18 woman.
Tum is not flat. So nothing figure hugging. Bum and boobs ok.
Winter wedding.
Thanks in advamce

That sounds promising. What are the arms like? Do you bingo?

PoulePouletteEternellement · 22/12/2020 11:18

Budget?

Traditional or otherwise?

JorisBonson · 22/12/2020 11:20

Have a look at Ivy and Oak, @goona. They do some amazing wrap dresses - I'm a couple of inches taller than you but a sturdy size 16 and my dress flattered me in all the right places.

Thank you.
Just wanting to get suggestions as to what styles are flattering to said figure.
Budget is reasonable - can go above £1500 if necessary.
It's really the style that would flatter that figure.
It's not me, it's my friend and she's not s Mumsnetter.
We both don't have a clue and she gets downhearted.

I'd suggest go and try on some really good quality shapewear - invest a chunk of the budget here.

Style-wise, go for a sweetheart or V neckline and look for embellishment at the top - pretty cap sleeves, lace etc to draw the eye away from tummy.

Look for a skirt with some fullness, but not a meringue. A full skirt balances a heavier top half.

The picture attached is quite modest but you can see how slimming it is

@SillYOldMummy Thank you but the sleeves are a little short and would accentuate the arms.
I get what you are saying about the shape.

Can you not go to a shop? In my experience you don't choose the dress , it chooses you . They know what works and they try them on you . Even if you don't buy I would go and try some on .

It's by Oleg Cassini, but no longer available apparently - sorry.

I just picked it out for style.
