Help! blonde highlights gone ginger

Every time I go to the hairdressers and ask for blonde highlights to cover my grey roots it goes ginger. Every time I specifically say I don't like ginger. Every time it goes ginger. I am so fed up with it.

Is this what happens to grey hair? I never had the problem until my roots were probably 70% grey. Is it my hairdresser or my hair not responding well? Also, what can I do now, is purple shampoo any good? I will go natural grey eventually but not at that stage of my life yet. Any help gratefully received.

Do they apply a toner? They need to do this to take out the brassyness.

If they do and it's still ginger then they need to life the hair properly either with a high volume bleach or leave the bleach on the hair longer.

This is why I stopped having my hair coloured. I wasn't able to find another solution.

I use an touch of silver’ purple shampoo every few days. It does keep brassiness at bay, give it a go.
