Jeans for the short legged and plump 16/18

cherrypiepie · 20/12/2020 22:51

In search of Jean recommendations please. Something stylish preferably- maybe a straight or slim high waisted?

I am size 16/18 plump and short legged with a long torso 5'6"

I cannot find any comfortable jeans whatsoever ever. I would probably describe my shape as hourglass with a a plump middle and 'thick' legs. Need them to flatter my stomach. Have 'pouch' and like to not see it outlined in clothes (personal preference and a long story)

I've tried topshop Jamie and a pair of mom Jeans most recently from f f. The mom Jeans are too big. Jeans in general at size 18 just get so uncomfortable - much more so than when I was a 14/16. Constant hitching up even if they see to fit. Or is it just me!

I must have about 20 pairs to eBay all tried on in the shop and liked but then then when worn so uncomfortable.

My favoured ever Jeans were Dorothy Perkins Harper size 16. I'm just wondering if I should stick the dresses and tights now. Would love some nice non skinny jeans recommendations please!

Would a Jeans online shop from a stylist help? Any recommendations? Emily Innes

I am the exact same size as you, also have a long body and short legs but am 5'7. I too lived in DP Harper. I now wear M&S straight legged jeans.

Hoppinggreen · 21/12/2020 08:56

I buy a lot of jeans from Sainsburys. I have spent ££££ on jeans but the £20 ones from there are still the winners

Bearsbearsbears40 · 21/12/2020 09:00

M&S high waisted Sophia straight leg jeans are fab!!

MaudesMum · 21/12/2020 09:18

Another one for M&S high waisted Sophias - and they even come in a "short" length, which isn't that short, but still means you don't have to roll them up too much...

funtimefrank · 21/12/2020 09:28

I have a short waist but like you short thick legs and 'pouch'

M&S did a relaxed skinny that was more like a straight leg. Best jeans I ever found.

I'll be honest though, I have totally switched to a smart jogger as both more comfy and more flattering on me pouch wise (I am the same as you, hate it being visible).

cherrypiepie · 21/12/2020 10:36

This is amazing info!! So precise and detailed

Thank you so much will get some Sophia from m and s.

@Superstardjs Harper were the best.

@funtimefrank I wear joggers too they are much more flattering. Glad you understood what I meant.

Where are you best joggers from.

At the moment I have a black denim pinafore which I love. But sometimes I just want jeans!

Xmas Smile

@Hoppinggreen I feel that every time I buy jeans I am burning money. I have some Sainsburys ones and they are not too bad.

H&M high waisted ankle jeans

Bearsbearsbears40 · 08/01/2021 13:34

I know this is a bit of an old thread now, but I was just browsing online and the Sophia jeans at M&S seem to be back in stock! I now have three pairs (found some in my size in the Cardiff M&S before lockdown) and I’m tempted to order more!

TwilightToStarlight · 08/01/2021 13:49

I'm a similar size (18 in most jeans and 5'8").

I love girlfriend jeans and straight leg jeans. I find they are slim enough on my legs but also accommodate my tummy!

I also wear jeggings, but mainly when I'm wearing long boots and can't wear anything else.

cherrypiepie · 08/01/2021 17:50

@Bearsbearsbears40 thank you so much I will go and buy!

I did get some slim from Tesco which I quite liked but are still in the wardrobe with the tags in so alas may well go back.

Worth having a look at new look hallie disco jeans- for me they have plenty of stretch but don’t need putting up all the time as are high waisted. I fit a 16 although often take an 18 in jeans.

HelebethH · 08/01/2021 17:57

I could have written your post! Have given up on jeans and embraced skirts, wrap dresses, thick tights and boots. I feel liberated and comfortable. I am only 5ft2in though and even tunic tops and leggings make me look like a bag lady.

cherrypiepie · 08/01/2021 20:59

@HelebethH they are so Uncomfortable and unflattering - make me feel like a frump!

I agree tights and dress all the way. The only issue is that this is what I wear for work so I would like a change for the weekend

Although right now I'm embracing the elasticated pant and long sleeved tee look!

Also what do you all wear on your feet in the winter with your jeans?

OP posts:
IPeedInThePool · 08/01/2021 21:04

Yep another vote for new look Hallie disco!

FlatteredRhubardFool · 08/01/2021 23:34

An you find your old favourites on eBay? That's what I do when I wear mine out.

chiatta · 09/01/2021 00:12

M and S Lily slims

DarlingCoffee · 09/01/2021 07:46

Rag and Bone jeans, joggers from Hush (size down with the joggers)

Bearsbearsbears40 · 09/01/2021 10:05

Not sure if I can help much on the footwear front - I’m a Salomon walking trainers-type person! (Not very fashionable!)

HelebethH · 09/01/2021 10:53

Hi cherrypiepie. Even though I have embraced skirts and dresses there are occasions when I need trousers. I have found a good alternative to jeans are some walking trousers from millets that’s they do in Short leg length . I have them in black and navy. Not bulky as quite thin but fine with tights under in really cold weather. Fine with trainers or low heeled ankle boots. Will see if I can find the link

HelebethH · 09/01/2021 11:06

These are them. Peter storm ladies roll up walking trousers. Added bonus they can be used as Capri in nice weather. Can get them other most outdoor shops or Amazon. Worth shopping around as prices vary. I am 27/28 in inside keg and shirt size is perfect
