What style would you choose to wear with this combination of wedding ring and engagement ring?

They're both quite heavy, I would go for something minimalist and slim

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 19/12/2020 20:45

I'd go for a full eternity ring of small diamonds. Just a couple of millimetres wide.

Onceuponatimethen · 19/12/2020 20:46

I’m going to contradict everyone and say if you have a very slim eternity ring won’t it look unbalanced?

bedtimestories · 19/12/2020 20:52

I'd go for a full eternity ring same band width as your wedding ring, same diamond grade & shape as your engagement ring

doctorhamster · 19/12/2020 21:16

I'm with onceuponatimethen. I think a slim dainty ring would look odd against your wedding and engagement rings.

mistermagpie · 19/12/2020 21:19

Slim and claw set. Definitely not channel set.

RosesAndHellebores · 19/12/2020 21:22

I think your rings are quite slim. I had preconceived ideas before I got mine. When I tried on the eternity rings, the right one just sat nicely.

RedPandaFluff · 19/12/2020 21:30

I think you need to try lots on, @MrsPatrickDempsey, to see what looks and feels right.

I'd definitely go for full eternity though, as rings tend to spin round on fingers. And I'd go for brilliant-cut diamonds to match your engagement ring.

DirtyDeedsGotMeOntNaughtyList · 19/12/2020 21:33

I’d get one to wear on my right hand - can’t see how it would work on that hand

ExpensivelyDecorated · 19/12/2020 21:38

I'd go for one for the right hand too, I think it would detract from the engagement ring if worn on the same finger, same finger only really works with solitaire engagement rings IMO.

Toototwo · 19/12/2020 21:50

I'd go for a channel set half eternity ring. I took a photo of an emerald one to show, but obviously you would pick whichever stone you liked. Best try some on.

im planning the same idea - my rings are platinum with diamonds/ sapphire in the middle. I am going to have some little diamonds set all around it probably - I dont know what it is called, but maybe not channel set.

I'm planning to wear it first, then wedding, then engagement - same as you?

Onceuponatimethen · 19/12/2020 22:00

I was assuming this would be for the right hand, agree left hand wouldn’t work as your current rings are lovely but would overshadow an eternity on the same finger

JaceLancs · 19/12/2020 22:23

How about a rope set or claw set see examples
I don’t think channel set would work

that's similar to mine although mine are diamonds . i wear it instead of my engagement ring
Fizbosshoes · 19/12/2020 22:50

I'd say half eternity as you dont see the other half of the diamonds (but pay for them!!) and the ones on the inside of your hand are more liable to smash or chip.
I would get a claw set one to wear on your right hand

SimplyRadishing · 19/12/2020 22:50

channel set half eternity ring

Agreed

waltzingparrot · 20/12/2020 11:19

I'd go for something gold/coloured stone the same width as your wedding ring.

Everyone saying half-eternity rings - I had one and even though it fit well, it kept moving round so the diamonds would be facing inwards. Drove me mad. Upgraded to a full eternity band as soon as I could.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 20/12/2020 13:25

My engagement ring does that moving round thing, I just turn it back, I don't even notice I'm doing it to be honest, it's no bother at all. I wouldn't fancy a full eternity, too likely to get damaged.

RosesAndHellebores · 20/12/2020 13:40

I got my eternity ring (half) ten years after being married. It was a half size bigger than my wedding and engagement rings. I went back to the jeweller to ask if it could be made smaller. The jeweller explained the reason it was twirling was because the other rings had become slightly too small. Had them resized and it solved the problem.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 20/12/2020 14:15

I've been wearing my full eternity for 16 years with no damage. What I would say though is that you cannot get them resized if you gain/lose weight, so a half eternity might be easier if that's a possibility.

Onthetrain75 · 20/12/2020 14:19

I would speak to a jeweller as if you plan to wear them together you need to make sure that the rings do not bash against each other. If the settings are not compatible you can find that the stones will come loose in their settings and you risk losing one of them.

Sasuma · 20/12/2020 14:28

I would say get one for the right hand. Both existing rings are on the heavy side and there’s not lots of space. I’m not sure that several rings on one finger looks great, unless they’re quite fine and delicate. Also tends to work better on long slim fingers too.

If you got one for your right hand, the added benefit would be you’d be less constrained by style and material.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 20/12/2020 16:36

Thanks for taking time to comment. The 'heavy' comments are interesting as my wedding ring is actually only 3mm but you have got me thinking that it needs resizing as I think it makes my finger look a bit bulgy 😂
