I adore this seagull necklace. I'm probably too old and its more than i ideally want to pay
Is it worth it? Can I find something similar for less?

You should buy it! 2020 has been a shower of shite, if you can put that on and feel happy then it's worth every penny!

FWIW Tatty Devine do a lot of acrylic jewellery

dudsville · 19/12/2020 18:06

That's cute! How much is it? Your comment about your age prompts me to say that with something like that you just need to really be committed to the item and not hide it. Looking at it I can well imagine how happy this could make the wearer!

HighHeelBoots · 19/12/2020 18:07

That image is tatty devine I think. Sugar and Vice do one that looks identical, cost it the same

No I'm wrong, that one is sugar and vice
Its £45

This company came up on an image search . I couldn't see one atm but it may be worth contacting them as they cut their own jewellery. I'm thinking of getting the weather neck lace as it made me smile

This page has the image of theirs folke.life/folkestone/heritage/r-and-r-jewellery/

I love it! You could also try Erstwilder and Irregular Choice, both do similar styles of acrylic jewellery.

Iamthewombat · 19/12/2020 18:23

If anyone had said “I’m thinking of buying a necklace depicting two seagulls eating chips” I’d have said, don’t be silly. However, it is actually nice! I am surprised. I’d buy it if I were you.

Bettina500 · 19/12/2020 18:28

Get it if you love it! Price could be worse, £45 doesn't buy much jewellery wise these days.
Not sure where you originally saw it but it's on Etsy and you can choose the chain length.

EvilPea · 19/12/2020 18:31

They are all beautiful. You must buy it.

AlannaOfTrebond · 19/12/2020 18:32

It's ace. Buy it!

Ukholidaysaregreat · 19/12/2020 18:53

Buy it and wear it with pride. Its statement jewellery. Just enjoy it and you will be able to pull it off!

I like it but then I collect Tatty Devine which is similar. I never wear it though, just like to own it. If you're unsure then look at Gisela Graham seagull range of homeware which are similar in concept but don't need wearing, e.g. attached pic

Don't compromise, get what your heart wants. You deserve it!

HighHeelBoots · 20/12/2020 09:12

I definitely want to wear it

I've a few from sugar and vice and I love them! They do make a statement but so what!
My first one was a blue tit! I got that when I was recovering from breast cancer as part of my treatment caused me to literally have a blue tit! I wore it to my last oncology appointment. My surgeon and nurse thought it was great!

Wiredforsound · 20/12/2020 09:16

That is one seriously ugly necklace, but if you can rock it, totally go for it!

Quads4x4 · 20/12/2020 09:20

No you're safe. The style of this necklace is middle aged+. You wouldn't see an under 30 wearing something like that.

ElliePhillips · 20/12/2020 09:23

I like it! Get to make you happy OP - life is too short to not wear pretty things! Smile

illdoitlater · 20/12/2020 09:25

If it makes you happy go for it!!

lemonsquashie · 20/12/2020 09:29

You can't be too old. That's an older ladies necklace IMO. Sorry

Agreed.
misskatamari · 20/12/2020 09:38

Well I like it. Mid 30s now and have been wearing things of a similar vein since late teens and don't plan on stopping. Ignore the catty comments and if you like it, buy it! Everyone has different tastes. I know my taste certainly isn't most people's, but I couldn't care less. If it makes you happy, that's what matters

HighHeelBoots · 20/12/2020 10:23

I'm not bothered about the comments. When I was about 17 I was at college in with a very funky crowd and would have worn it then. In my early 20s I got a bit safe and wouldn't have wanted to stand out
Now I don't care. Its only the price that is stopping me, I'm a bit skint just now and don't usually spend that much on a plastic necklace Xmas Grin
