Yes Estée Lauder, Bobbi brown. Matte looks better isn’t sticky
If you want some shine add a dab of lip balm

tofuschnitzel · 20/12/2020 11:28

I get very dry lips so most matte lip products are out for me as they just make it worse. Even if my lips are fine that day, matte will suck all the moisture out of them! Matte products always feel so uncomfortable on my lips. It would be nice to wear them as they can look lovely on other people.

Mamazita · 20/12/2020 11:45

Love matte lipsticks especially Pat McGrath. If I want gloss, I add a bit of lip balm

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 20/12/2020 11:57

I’ve always wanted to try pat mcgrath lippies, shes fab

Oh! Good to know. Heard her do a podcast she’s a right laugh, top woman

sofiaaaaaa · 20/12/2020 12:25

I don’t wear bullet lipstick, only liquid lipsticks so matte all the way!

Glossy is a pain, it seems to transfer and make a mess of my light hair etc

Confusedandshaken · 20/12/2020 12:27

Mattes so drying. I love a sheen to lipstick and it's moisturising too.

itsoffical · 20/12/2020 13:02

Matt seems to make my lips look dry and wrinkly - I go for a mid-sheen.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 20/12/2020 13:18

I'm either matte or just a lip balm.had pawpaw red and it was subtle tint

Mamazita · 20/12/2020 14:29

Just checked the Pat Mcgrath website and her lipsticks are now £10 each! Going to order a couple

goose1964 · 20/12/2020 14:48

I hate matte it dries my lips out, not that they need much help

Deathraystare · 20/12/2020 15:05

Mattes are too dry for me but I sometimes wear Ruby Woo (even though it is a bit 'blue' so I top up with a bit of balm. Most are too ageing for me, I look best with a bit of a shine/sheen.

sofiaaaaaa · 20/12/2020 15:09

Ruby woo is ridiculously dry - it is all the way on the extreme end of the matte scale due to it’s “retro matte” formula. The standard Mac matte formula is much more hydrating.

Modern matte lipsticks aren’t drying. I use Huda Beauty and Mac liquid lipsticks with no dryness/wrinkling.

Hotchocolatewithcream · 20/12/2020 15:28

I’ve ordered a new matte lipstick to try from Avon, hope it’s nice 🤞🏻

Are there additional customs or post office charges on pat McGrath deliveries?

Mamazita · 20/12/2020 19:28

No, no additional custom charges and delivery is free

lazylinguist · 20/12/2020 19:29

I hate matte lipstick. It looks weird on me!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/12/2020 22:04

Always matte here.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 20/12/2020 22:08

Matt here too. My absolute favourite is maybelline matte ink. I have many, many different colours.

Am now off to check out pat mcgrath lipsticks.

BusterGonad · 21/12/2020 10:17

Oh, rough question, most of my lipsticks are matte but I've recently purchased so glossy ones from Revlon. Glass shine. They are so nice. I think I'd probably choose a satin. Some mattes are really hard to apply.

CupOfTeaAlonePlease · 21/12/2020 10:21

I think matte lipsticks make people look older and more tired. I tried to get into them because they're on trend but I'm 35 so couldn't pull it off. If I was 20 maybe

JMAngel1 · 21/12/2020 10:55

Me too. I think matte is for the under 25s. I love the staying power of a matte but find it ageing. So I prefer a satin lipstick. I love the look of glossy, but longevity is poor.

I’ve tried adding balm or gloss over the top of a matte lipstick, but always find that it “eats”the lipstick and it wears off horribly patchy.

If you wear a balm over matte and it doesn’t disturb the lipstick, which brands do you use?

Janegrey333 · 21/12/2020 11:43

Does anybody wear lipstick or foundation these days when wearing a mask is important? What’s the point? Who wants a greasy, dirty mask?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/12/2020 11:45

Neither, I prefer a cream formula, somewhere between the two. Like satin paint is neither matt nor gloss 🤣
