What's your best makeup trick or technique?

Mine is (if you have hooded eyelids) to put a lighter shadow on the bit near your lashline and then a darker shadow in the crease to make your eyes pop. This goes against the grain of doing a smoky eye from your lash and buffing it out but I think it looks a lot better!

What's your best makeup trick or technique? Do you have anything you'd recommend? (just curious!)

I use my beauty blender damp rather than dry. I just run it under the tap for a second, then squeeze it in a towel to get rid of excess water. It makes such a difference to how my tinted moisturiser goes on and looks.

berrygirlie · 13/12/2020 09:19

I think that's because it absorbs less product when it's wet as obviously it's full of water- though I'll be honest and say I definitely need to clean mine a lot more than I do Blush Krusty

How do you find tinted moisturiser? I'm trying to divert away from foundation and concealer daily as it makes me feel a bit cacky but I'm very pale and tend to get a Rudolph effect if I don't put it on when it's chilly Grin

Tightlining. Lots of people misunderstand how to do it but when it's done properly, it's impossible to see but gives real definition to the eyes. You have to pull your eyelashes up and do eyeliner right into the base of the lashes from underneath. It's not the waterline though, which many people think it is.

So with tightlining Othering is that solely on the upper lash line?
I used to put some white on my lower lashine to make my eyes bigger, and I'll usually go under my top eyelashes if I'm wearing eyeliner but I tend to not put anything on my bottom lashes anymore (in the words of Jude Law in The Holiday, "I'm a weeper" Grin)

Also tightlining, I have barely any eyelashes and heavy eyeliner looks a bit weird on me but tightlining give a really nice defined effect whilst not looking like you really have eyeliner on at all.

I read about a makeup artist on set of some film applying foundation like a lotion on top of heavily moisturised skin. I started doing this and love it.

I use Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and honestly, it's my holy grail. Such a game changer. Stays on all day, doesn't oxidise or sit in pores and gives a really nice even glow.

They have so many shades. It's pricey so I buy from ASOS when they have 20% off.

I used to swear by Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser until they fucked about with the formula and ruined it.

Yes. It's in the lash line. Literally in it. It should be imperceptible if you do it right.

Oh and when you say white liner in your lash line, you mean waterline. They're 2 different things.
