Pixi glow tonic

I've asked for this as an Xmas present after seeing alot of people recommend it (thanks Mumsnet) do I need to use a cleanser beforehand??
I've also ordered the neutrogena age shield face spf cream. I'm 31 and skin isn't bad apart from horrific hormonal acne and scars which I think is past the point of repair!! Just wondering if the face shield will clog my skin up though ?

I don't know about the face shield stuff but I like pixi glow. It's for use after cleansing.

I really liked the Pixi Glow Tonic, but I found the Aldi Lacura version just as good. Although getting hold of it is nigh on impossible! I use it after cleansing at night.

No idea about the SPF but pixi glow is used after cleanser, at night, before a moisturizer.

Is your dr treating the acne?. Most acne is hormonal, that’s why you don’t see it often in the pre-pubescent.

I had acne exacerbated by pcos but it doesn’t matter what the cause is the treatments the same.

I had treatment and although I’ll always have pcos I have clear skin now.

Yes you do, otherwise its a bit of waste of money as you're using it to clear off dirt.

If you Cleanse first, it gets right to the dead skin cells which is its job.

I find using it once a week works just as well as daily. Daily is a waste, imo.

Will have to get a decent cleanser then!
I've used the ordinary stuff before but can't say it's ever made a difference to my skin!

@Fluffycloudland77 the gp was treating it with antibiotics and duac?? Forgot how to spell it. It didn't work though.
I've got pcos so it gets really really bad, the last few months it doesn't get clear just constantly have huge cystic spots and loads of little ones. Can't really do a lot to treat it atm as I'm having ivf

The antibiotics didn’t work for me either so I had roaccutane which was life changing. Obviously you can’t have that while having ivf but there’s no need to suffer with it long term.

I’ll always have PCOS but my skins clear now even with oily skin.

I really rate the CeraVe Smoothing Cleanser, it contains Salicylic acid and has made a real difference to my skin.

Pixi is overpriced. Probably has to be to pay the gurus for advertising it.
If you look at the ingredients (which are great) even supermarket toners contain the same % of glycolic etc.

Be careful not to overdo it with the Pixi. Start with using it twice a week. I went straight in every day and regretted it.

@TheSilentStars the Superdrug one is 5%. I use it for brightening sometimes. Get bored and stop.

Rinse and repeat.

The ordinary does a great one, good price too.

Pixie glow tonic is great. It comes in a large 250ml bottle so lasts forever. I also like the pixi retinol tonic. Neither are too strong and the glow tonic does the job as it's not too strong to use on a daily basis.

I can't get on with The Ordinary, think it's non effective, certainly on my combination skin.

I do use Pixi Glow regularly, although in the summer I try not to use it just before going out in the sun as I think it makes my skin a tiny bit more sensitive. I think it improves the texture and helps to minimise my gigantic pores!

Is the glow tonic the same stuff that was in the M&S advent calendar 2 years ago?

Hi OP, I'm older than you but have had similar adult/cystic acne at your age. It left a lot of scarring and I'd still get occasional flare ups until recently.

I started using the prescription service Dermtica at the start of first lockdown. You send photos of your skin and they prescribe treatment, mine contains retin-A for wrinkles and acne and something for the acne scarring. £20 a month and it has made a HUGE difference. Scars have massively improved and all the under skin clogged pores have cleared. My chin used to be SO congested. It's a long term product and for months I saw no change (they tell you this though) and then suddenly my skin looks amazing! Can't recommend it enough.

@PusheenLove I believe so, that's where I first came across it. Unlike a previous poster, I don't think the Aldi version of it is as good, I find it soapier.

Thanks for the advice regarding the cystic acne. I have actually had a look at dermatica recently but I'm reluctant to put much on my skin atm due to the ivf (probably being over cautious)
It's bloody horrendous to live with, I never even had spots like this as a teenager and it really gets me down, I have a constantly red face from inflammation and scarring, but it's only on my lower half of my face my forehead is completely clear !!

Some antibiotics are safe in pg, you won’t sort out true cystic acne with skincare or exclusion diets. It’s a deep bacterial infection.
