Best long lasting nail varnish?

BewareTheBeardedFatMan · 12/12/2020 21:38

I love nail varnish, but mine always chips on day 1, or if I'm super lucky day 2.
Can anyone recommend one which lasts and can stand up to daily life? Does such a thing exist?

I don't know how rough you are with your hands. But I find that since I do my own mani, I buy chanel or ysl, and they are just beautiful. Butter London used to be good too, but lately I have gone back to Chanel. It's not that bad since you're not paying for mani/pedi.

The most chip resistant I've found are nail strengthening/conditioning treatment polishes like Barry M Mani mask. They can be a nightmare to remove. They tend to have matte finishes & I add a sheer top coat of a pale pink. I find that in general, the more coats you use of a varnish, the more likely it is to chip really quickly. I stick to sheer /slightly tinted varnishes during the week so I don't have to keep redoing them. It helps if you remember to take the varnish up round the tops of your nails- and wear gloves for cleaning and gardening.

Maybelline Superstay are the best ones I've used. They are the most chip resistant that I've found and I use my hands a lot.

Essie Gel. Use it with the Essie Gel top coat. I get mine from Amazon when they're on offer.

Sally Hansen gel is very good. You put a special top coat on. I also find that using a glitter nail varnish as a top coat helps make the nail varnish last. I wrap my nails in cotton wool soaked in varnish remover.

High street brand-wise I find the Barry M Molten Metals range extremely hard wearing (it's hard to get off though!)

If you're into indie polish brands then Prism Polish and Danglefoot are both great

A good top coat makes a real difference too, I like Seche Vite

Thanks - I will check these all out!

I've always used rimmel 60 seconds, the clear base coat 1st then 2 coats of polish. It lasts for 4 days before starting to chip and it is super cheap. Im permantely washing up, cleaning etc. Tried more expensive brands but they dont touch this one.

Agree with the rimmel 60 seconds.
I am a nail polish junkie and was addicted to expensive brands. I went away for a wedding and forgot my nail varnish and bought this to make do and now it's all I buy. It lasts so much better or as well as chanel, nailsinc, essie etc. And is £2.99
Rain rain go away is my favourite neutral. Is a beautiful fawn colour. I can usually get a week out of 2 thin coats of it.
And 5 days out of stronger or brighter colours.
And 4 or more weeks on my toes BlushBlushBlush
