For those with the missing Styling Gene - Stitchfix Fix 4 Reveal

As stated before, I am rubbish at knowing what to wear. I think I am stuck somewhere around 2002 Blush So I signed up to Stitchfix and have been very pleased overall with the service - skip this bit if you know how it works:

You give the stylist chapter and verse on what you want and don't want, you like blue, don't like brown. You don't want sleeveless tops, or jewelery, but you do want jeans and a forest green blazer. You like v necks, or polo necks, you like cropped trousers, you like skinny jeans, you like things to fit tight, loose, baggy, etc etc. You then explain all about your body type and different sizes you wear, what brands you like, how much you want to be pushed stylewise, your lifestyle and whether you want clothes for work/date nights/lounging around (YES!) You also tell them if you want to exclude certain items, such as jumpsuits, or shoes, or you don't want leather, or polyester. You set a price band for each type of item - mine is set to cheapest - and you can tell stylist if there is something you want for a "fix" like a nice red dress for New Years Eve or clothes for WFH.

You will get £15 off your "fix" by using my code here
www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/ffztmxfkwh?sod=w&som=c
which will offset your £10 styling fee, which you only pay if you keep at least one item. If you keep your whole box you get 20% off the lot which is fab. I check all my items received and the prices online have never been different to what I have been charged.

So here is what I got this fix Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

Mint Velvet Cotton Star T shirt. This is plain white but has a silver star on one sleeve. It's a nice basic and I know I will wear it lots.

Louche Kiyo Printed midi Skirt. I didn't like this. Partly because I couldn't quite get the zip up Blush and partly because it is the sort of thing I wore in the early 90s. However, by keeping it, I get the 20% discount so get it for free and I know DD will love it.

People Tree Marta Leaf Print Dress - Navy. Lovely dress. Never heard of them before but it's an ethical brand and this dress looks lovely on, all swishy! I never would have picked this out online or in a shop or tried it on, and it's here that I really get the value of the service I think.

Moss Copenhagen Sabella Alpaca Cardigan in Fuschia. I cannot tell you how lovely this is. It looks like shit online, but in RL the softness, the full sleeves, the perfect length, the vibrant colour. Oh it is perfection as a pick me up for winter working from home. i may never take it off.

So, a good outcome, and DD will be very pleased as she loves the Louche of London brand. I didn't keep everything last time, so they gave me a free fix this time, no styling fee. I find their customer service very good like that.

It's definitely not for everyone, so if you know you have very definite ideas of what you want or you know you are difficult to please, maybe steer clear, but with the discount code I gave you don't have anything to lose really for a one off. You can set for a one off, for every 2 months, every 6 months, whatever you want.

Next fix booked for February and will have fingers crossed for another good one then, and that I will be asking for "going out clothes" Smile

Oh! Forgot the Boden joggers. Grey with a rainbow stripe at the ankle cuff. Soft and ideal for WFH.

Photos?

I find that no matter how much I set my budget to I get sent their own brand stuff and lots of man made fabrics. I don’t get any interesting brands like you have listed. Also all the clothes I get sent are boring!

JackyFrost · 10/12/2020 21:12

could you post photos or links to the garment online?

lockdownalli · 10/12/2020 21:16

Here you go - photos! I am being honest with the feedback, like I said, I don't like the skirt, and didn't like everything last fix, but overall I find I like to wear the clothes I got from them. I like being stretched a bit as left to my own devices I would just wear clothes from M&S and Next!!

Other people ask where I get things from which tends not to happen when you walk around in M&S like everyone else Grin

I never get sent stuff like this. Last month I got a jumper virtually identical to one I had got the month before, the most frumpy phase eight jumper I had ever seen, a really boring top, a dress that was quite nice but too much for what it was and a stripey jumper. No bottoms or accessories and nothing I could pair together

Ifonlyiweretaller · 10/12/2020 23:39

My last delivery was disappointing too - everything went back again, as they did on previous delivery. I've cancelled as I just don't think the concept works for me.

TheChineseChicken · 11/12/2020 04:25

And everything is so expensive for what it is! I don’t mind spending a reasonable amount on something I really like but £50 in a polyester cardigan is a bit much

lockdownalli · 12/12/2020 15:04

It seems some of you have had bad luck Sad

The lovely cardi I got this box is alpaca and so lovely and fluffy. Agree I wouldn't want to pay £50 for a polyester cardi. I think if your stylist "gets you" it's great, and if not, not so much...worth a try though if your wardrobe needs a shake up.

I do Stitch Fix and love it. My last box I only kept three things but they were three lovely things that I wouldn't have got otherwise.

And their skinny soft jeans are absolutely amazing.

This thread has made me want another "fix" so I am going to see if I can get myself a little Christmas present. It does feel a bit like Christmas every time you get a box because you really don't know what is in it. They are going to start giving you the option of seeing what your stylist has chosen for you and asking them to swap things in and out before it is sent but I don't think I will do that. I really like the surprise element.

ScrapThatThen · 12/12/2020 15:23

Sounds disappointing.

Ah, I do have two pairs of jeans that are both fantastic - I specifically asked for them as had heard they were good
f83mx · 12/12/2020 17:06

I’ve just rejected all their suggestions Previewed by email so will be interested to see what I get as will be total surprise ...

sophiestew · 13/12/2020 18:51

I use StitchFix and love love love it.

Agree with PP about the jeans - best soft skinny jeans ever. Plus a lot of really nice tops, and I got a beautiful dress last time, plain column, really classy, v neck. Sorry can't remember the brand.

I think I will order myself another one for Christmas and one for DH too. His taste in clothing is quite good really, but he wears things when they really should have been binned! Then maybe if we actually get to see anyone or go anywhere for Christmas we will look smart. I wear a uniform for work and have been really busy ( NHS hospital nurse) but have a few days off over Christmas which I intend to thoroughly enjoy, and new clothes will help me achieve that so fuck it, I deserve it!

Thankssomuch · 13/12/2020 19:39

I’ve had two fixes so far. The jeans they sent were a miracle for me - perfect and I never would have chosen them. I’ve kept a couple of other good items too. I like the concept and will continue as long as there are a couple of good items worth keeping per fix.

emma6776 · 13/12/2020 20:42

I live Stitch Fix too - always seem to get at Least one hideous polyester blouse, but have had the most amazing jeans from there & a couple of jumpers I wouldn’t have chosen but look great on.

f83mx · 15/12/2020 18:40

is their own brand jeans people are getting? I did and they fit a dream but some of the stitching is coming undone in the seam already - not sure what returns policy is like once you've worn stuff...

tenterden · 15/12/2020 20:14

I have had the Mauvette skinny jeans about a year ago and they are still going strong. Is that what you had @f83mx? They are fantastic aren't they?

I get a box every two months or so and look forward to it so much. It's amazing how they select things I wouldn't have chosen myself or even looked twice at in the shop or online but when I try them on they look great.

Thankssomuch · 15/12/2020 20:36

The jeans they sent me are Lee.

Puppylucky · 15/12/2020 22:54

This is starting to stink. As other posters have recognised, the delivery the OP describes and talks us through in glowing detail, has no bearing on what everyone else receives - and no amount of stylist feedback seems to change things.
I am a disappointed ex-customer of Stitch Fix and all I can say is beware as these multiple threads may not be as unbiased as they seem.

f83mx · 16/12/2020 16:58

No mine weren’t mauvette- “et&me” I think from memory - and I do think the stitching is about to fail on the seam! I liked all my stuff but also had a no brand cardigan which is nice but not worth 45 quid - I will see what the second box is like

bluebeck · 16/12/2020 17:10

Oh I wish I had got Lee jeans in my box. I haven't seen them in the shops in ages. I used to wear them or Falmer jeans, are they still going? I find Levis a bit overpriced and the denim is a bit too hard for me, I prefer something softer.

I have had the Mauvette high waisted skinny jeans, they are really soft and do wonders for my mum tum. Not had any other jeans from them. My last box had some nice cotton tops from Mango and Warehouse. Not sure if those brands exist any more either since so many places are going under, it's such a shame.

I will wait until near end of Feb I think to get another lot as hopefully spring clothes will be available by then and I don't need any more jumpers or cardis.

Thankssomuch · 16/12/2020 20:24

leebeck you’re right, the denim is really soft.

Thankssomuch · 16/12/2020 20:25

bluebeck I meant

Thankssomuch · 16/12/2020 20:26

I hadn’t had Lee jeans before but I would certainly look for them again. £120 and so worth it.
