Clothes don’t fit, help!

I’ve put on a stone this year, when I was supposed to be losing weight - the more I stressed about diets the more I ate. So I’m now 4 stone overweight and none of my clothes fit, I feel awful and hate the mirror.

It’s been the wake up I needed to sort my diet once and for all but I have an immediate issue that I have two tops and two pairs of leggings, one pair of jeggings. That’s it! My coat is so tight, where can I find some reasonable clothes to tide me over for a month? I’m 5’ 2” and a size 16, nudging toward an 18. I tried Yours but they made me look wider. Don’t want to spend a fortune and want to basically hide my body, nothing clingy and no taut material so I can actually move my arms. Please help!!

EBay?

Billericaydicky · 10/12/2020 17:07

Primary is your friend. Well priced, some decent stuff, choose well and put with the right things, the clothes don't look cheap.

LadyShmuck · 10/12/2020 17:09

Tesco usually have decent fitting jeans and jumpers for reasonable prices. I'm currently losing a lot of weight (I had surgery) and its my go to for cheap jeans and tops to tide me over.

I’m just finding everything makes me feel worse, it’s clingy or too short 😢 I have to order online as my toddler doesn’t let me hear myself think let alone shop

You can order tesco clothes through Next. Make sure you're buying the right size. It's only a number on a label and the right size clothes won't cling in the wrong places or ride up so much. I also swear by control pants, but I'm overall much bigger than you.

Thanks LadyShmuck, I didn’t realise Tesco were on Next - I’ll have a look tonight as I can click and collect from there

OP I feel your pain

You say clingy...over a certain weight I only wear cotton, at the moment, if it’s oversize style, even better.

QVC have a bunch of tunic style stuff on sale at the mo but sadly not much cotton. I gave in and got 2 good quality cotton tops on sea salt and they don’t cling. I won’t be seen much in public till spring anyway with all the restrictions.

Coats - I am actually wearing a too tight coat, in that I can feel the tightness when I sit down, but I can’t face buying another one. The Tube is hot anyway so I just unzip it before I get on.

DianaT1969 · 10/12/2020 19:33

H&M have lots of tunic styles.

Mycuppatea · 10/12/2020 19:52

AcornAutumn - great tips, I know it sounds horrible but I’m glad I’m not alone. The coat I’m going to have to make due with, but it’s just so uncomfortable. Going for a walk and just feeling it being so tight is a constant reminder.

Diana - thanks, I had forgotten about H&M! I’ll have a look now x

Oh you’re not alone, my sister has lost weight, gained weight and is now losing it again.

Re the coat

Mine is okay across the shoulders, if you’re physically uncomfortable, I’d see if you can get a new one, that must be annoying?

I also got a couple of thermal vests rather than jumpers, I don’t want anything adding bulk right now!

Mycuppatea · 10/12/2020 20:02

It’s mainly across my stomach / hips. It does up but I feel it riding up as I’m walking. As I’m short every pound shows... I’m hoping if I can shift just half a stone initially I’ll feel more comfortable in my clothes. Well, less like
I’m actually going to burst out of them! Today I was sure my bra was going to snap... bad times

For me it’s my arse!

A non oversized tunic just looks like it’s got a mad bump at the back.

Mycuppatea · 10/12/2020 20:22

I’ve just whacked a whole bundle of clothes from H&M on the credit card Grin

Had to get two sizes as I’ve no idea what will fit. Fingers crossed some of it does!
