Can you cut the bobble off a bobble hat?

Seen a nice woolly hat in colours and print I like but feel like a berk wearing a bobble hat (I like them on others just not me). Do you think I can cut it off? Sorry no pic I saw it in the shops not on line and didn’t take a pic. It’s reduced so not a major risk if goes wrong but wondered if there’s a particular way to cut off.

It you pull the pompom away from the hat you may be able to see the stitch you need to cut, ive done it on one of mine as it was too big

But then it’s not a bobble hat ?

Nah OP Bobble hats are a different shape from normal hats - sort of pointy. So I think it would look odd.

I agree with Baycob. I've done it before and it spoiled the hat completely. I was just too pointy without the bobble!

Yes I just did and it was fine but it's not pointy without the bobble so depends on the hat. It hasn't gone to waste as I just sewing it onto DS's hat as he decided his beanie looked too plain! I just pulled hard at the bobble and could see the stitch holding it on.

Thanks all! Makes sense about looking for the stitch. I don’t think it was pointy but when I go back to buy it I’ll have a good look.
