Warm coat

I'm after a coat that is ideally padded and waterproof, with a hood, for the school run/ rainy day walks. Something nice and warm with lots of pockets too. Length wise- one that goes past my bum! My budget is around £100. I'm a size 8 and around 5ft 2ins. Any recommendations? Thanks

I recently bought this Trespass coat on the recommendation of another MNer, and have found it very warm, waterproof, and with lots of pockets. The hood is fantastic, v large and effective. It comes up small, so maybe size up. www.trespass.com/faithful-womens-parka-jacket

Does anyone have any of these and willing to share a picture wearing it?

@Seychelles98 I have it in navy, but it's actually more of a midnight blue, lighter than it appears on the website.

Frequentflier · 07/12/2020 21:26

That Joules Dartwell looks gorgeous, and I might have ordered that if I had seen it in time!

Littleguggi · 07/12/2020 21:34

Frequentflier I know, the lining is lush! I've just realised though they only have both colours in size 6 (I was a 6 before I had kids and had still been wearing my size 6 coat until todau, but the zip split today hence why I am on the search for another). If you feel comfortable, I'd love to see a picture of you wearing the trespass coat, I was actually looking at the navy too!

Uniqlo

IndieTara · 07/12/2020 22:14

Cotton Traders I have a very long padded coat from there which I really like

Littleguggi · 07/12/2020 22:23

Thanks both, never heard of these stores, had a look on their websites but didn't see anything I liked unfortunately. I'm open to other suggestions as I'm not set on anything yet!

OP posts:
Stumpedasatree · 07/12/2020 22:26

@Littleguggi I am your height and a size 6-8. After trying loads of coats (and sending loads back!) I am so happy with this one someone on here recommended. Its super warm, and waterproof and I love it.

Littleguggi · 07/12/2020 22:32

Ooh thanks for sharing, I like the off centre zip, unfortunately they only have it in a size 6 though! But that's the style I'm after tbh!

OP posts:
Stumpedasatree · 07/12/2020 22:38

It's slightly oversized if that helps, plenty of room as its not a close fit. Also, the pockets are fleece lined which I found wasn't the case with all the coats I tried and helps keep my cold hands warm.

Littleguggi · 07/12/2020 22:50

Yes I saw from the reviews that people have had to size down! Thanks for the suggestion, it has everything I am looking for!

OP posts:
Littleguggi · 07/12/2020 23:01

Stumpedasatree I've just ordered the coat, I was swayed by the extra 20% off today, plus the already 50% off! Thank you, I just hope it fits and I love it as much as you do.

Stumpedasatree · 08/12/2020 08:21

@Littleguggi, gosh pressure on! Hope you like it, report back.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 08/12/2020 17:19

Landsend does fantastic ones. I have a few and they go in the washing machine and tumble dryer. It currently has a sale on and this one is rated 'warmest' (I love the fact that you can filter by warmth) and is currently under £100 www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Hooded_Down_Coat/pp/P_40544.html?cgid=14605&dwvar_P__40544_color=%20BLA

nevernotstruggling · 08/12/2020 19:08

Following with interest. I love that Barbour coat it's timeless. One school mum has it abs looks very put together. It's dear though!

LaceyBetty · 08/12/2020 19:22

Uniqlo has ridiculously warm coats at good prices.

Frequentflier · 08/12/2020 19:26

@Littleguggi sorry didn't have time to take a pic earlier, and this isn't a v good pic. The coat is rather crumpled bcos I have been on and off the tube all day. I am 5'7 and a size 10-12.

Warm coat
Littleguggi · 08/12/2020 19:54

Thanks for your recommendations all, I ordered one from Mountain warehouse last night and can't wait for it to arrive.

I really like the barbour one too @nevernotstruggling and might ask DH to buy it for my birthday which is in a couple of months time, it doesn't look the warmest but will be ideal for spring!

@Frequentflier that looks lovely on, I much prefer the colour on you and like you said it's not too bright. Ideally I wanted something navy/blue as I feel all my clothes are black.

OP posts:
Stumpedasatree · 12/12/2020 09:32

@Littleguggi how did the mountain warehouse coat go?

Littleguggi · 12/12/2020 20:27

@Stumpedasatree the coat arrived this morning and I've just tried it on, it's perfect! Thank you so much for the recommendation. I went for the 6 as that's all they had left but as you say, it's generous in size. It's everything I was after, warm, functional and looks nice too! Can't wait to wear it out now 🥰

OP posts:
Littleguggi · 12/12/2020 20:28

Plus I love a bargain and got it for £79 whereas the rrp is £200!

OP posts:
Stumpedasatree · 13/12/2020 14:52

Oh I'm so pleased! You paid £10 less than me! It really is a great coat.
