Short chubby legs and skirts/dresses

I’m 5’1 with chubby legs and knees, size 10 on top but 12/14 bottom.
I’d really love to wear a denim type skirt or cord pinafore dress with black tights but don’t feel I can because I’m conscious of my legs and being short, plus I can’t wear heels because of a dodgy hip.
Any one got any style advice or tips on how I can look ok wearing this sort of thing or recommend any brands that would suit my heigh and shape?

I'm sure you look lovely. Chunkier legs and slimmer top looks very feminine.
My tips:
Low wedge if you can bear it, vionics, fly london or ecco do good ortho shoes

A lines really slim

Wear bright lipstick, headband or necklace to keep the eyes up.

Keep the bottom half solid dark colour eg black a line pinafore, black tights, pointed ballerina shoes.

Choose pointed flats instead of square or round toe if possible

Choose high dernier tights with spandex lycra of 180 to 120 dernier to hold you in

Show off your waist with nipped in tailoring, fitted top or waist belt.

I find exercise gave me confidence before my shape even changed, my posture and self esteem and love for my body increased... cheesy but give it a go. i like pilates and yoga as they are low impact, strength and lengthen the limbs.

Wear the outfit you feel self conscious about to a place you dont know with people you dont know. When you see that nobody else gives a fig, nobody is running away or staring in horror.. you will get more comfortable.

I am chunky of leg. It is a family trait. My skinny younger sister also has the same affliction, although she is a little taller and carries it off.

DMum is under 5ft and really petit, but her legs are the family ones, so she has the same issues.

However - she always looks fabulous and you don't notice the legs at all! She is quite stylish in general. Does a good line in earrings and scarves and looks put together at all times (I did NOT inherit that skill). I doubt anyone has ever thought 'she'd look great if her legs were less stumpy'

I think a lot of it is choosing the right length of skirt. Too long and it makes your legs look shorter and wider.

Mum always does about an inch above the knee - and although our family knees are not the best either, opaque tights are good at disguising them and the effect of the slightly shorter skirt makes your legs look that slight bit longer.

I have gone for the 'stuff it' approach and wear what I want these days. I used to only wear trousers so no one could see, but I only wear skirts and dresses these days and don't bloody care. I never wear heels either. I don't think I look too bad (if I say so myself).
I just decided that it's easy to get fixated on a bit of ourselves we aren't happy with when, actually, no one else will notice or give it a second glance.

Thank you both, I’m sure you’re right that no one will notice. I’m sure once I’ve worn it a few times I’ll be happier. I’m going to go for it!! X
