I wouldn't wear them cos of the fleecy bit, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't.

DeadButDelicious · 06/12/2020 14:51

Life is too short to have uncomfortable feet. If they fit, keep your feet warm and dry and feel comfy then keep them I say!

I broke my ankle this year so I can't wear anything that isn't built for comfort now. I used to stomp about in giant platform biker boots but now I'm getting these for Christmas from hotter and I can't wait! Two zips! Wide fit! Fleecy lining! 😂

A bit old-ladyish unfortunately, yes, but more to the point they look as if they'll get wet and grubby very quickly.

Ugg do loads of nice leather boots (as opposed to the sheepskin ones) with fleece lining, flat chunky soles, in sensible dark colours. Have a look at the outlet section of the website or look for them on sale sites like Brand Alley. I've got a few pairs that are blissfully comfy and practical too.

murbblurb · 06/12/2020 15:04

come off it, you are female. You are meant to teeter round in heels, arse stuck out, legs twisted, picking your way over surfaces, feet in pain. Comfortable and practical shoes are NOT ALLOWED. Those are for men only.

or you could refuse to follow that rule...

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 06/12/2020 15:29

I really like them and I'm 35.
They look really warm and comfortable. I wouldn't buy them though as I'm on foot a lot,and outside in all kinds of weather so they'd get mucky very quickly.

However if you are interested in Uggs and he's willing to fork out for them, they have plenty of boots that are waterproof/leather and not the slipper style but still warm, lined and comfortable.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 06/12/2020 15:31

Look up Rieker boots - you can also find them on Amazon.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 06/12/2020 15:32

I have these ones for snowy/rainy days.

My Granny would like them. She's been dead for 20 years mind.

They look amazingly comfy!
batteriesgoing · 06/12/2020 16:12

I think I need to keep looking. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I find boots really difficult. I'm tall and a size 7 so a lot of them look really clumpy on me

I wear a size 7 too, well 6 /6 and a half but i have really wide feet and spread out toes so I buy a size up for comfort.
Twinkie01 · 06/12/2020 16:28

Sorrel Boots look lovely are waterproof and warm.

Moondust001 · 06/12/2020 16:29

If you like them then b what anyone else says. There's a lot to be said for comfy.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 06/12/2020 16:30

@batteriesgoing if you’ve got the budget for it (I guess you do if DH thought uggs was a good option) I’d suggest a pair of Timberland boots. They’ll be good and comfortable, not too chunky, and also look great. You can get goretex treated/waterproof ones as well which will keep your feet lovely and dry. Should be good deals on at the moment.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 06/12/2020 16:31

Oh wait I forgot, BF is over...I always buy a pair in the jan sales, if you can hold out til then!

Buggedandconfused · 06/12/2020 16:31

They come up small by the way, buy a size bigger than normal.

IntermittentParps · 06/12/2020 16:32

AccidentallyOnPurpose I've got those too. They are fab.

OP, I'm also tall and a size 8. I'm reconciled to looking like Frankenstein's monster in chunky boots.

MrsMiaWallis · 06/12/2020 16:33

There's loads of nice chunky boots out there at the moment. Or trendy trainers would be better.

MrsMiaWallis · 06/12/2020 16:36

I have these

They were really expensive but I've seen almost identical rip offs in New Look and Tesco

SmileyClare · 06/12/2020 16:37

It's the big fleecy trim that's the problem. It tips them over into the sort of shoes you might see in those pull out catalogues for elderly people in magazines.

The actual boots look quite good. Congratulations on your baby. Smile

malificent7 · 06/12/2020 16:45

Why do you even listen to a man for fashion advice?

DeeCeeCherry · 06/12/2020 16:51

Yeah they are, a bit. Do they come in black? Currently searching for old lady style boots for work. I love them. Comfort over style, walking on air bliss-mode. I was the same after I had DCs too

SlopesOff · 06/12/2020 16:52

Those fluffy tops look awful, on any boots, except children's. Often the fluffy stuff is only on the top so not even any use for warming the feet.

I am 'old' and I wouldn't wear them, or Uggs. I have noticed recently how many truly ugly boots there are, and also know how difficult it is to find comfortable ones.
