'Winter' trainers to wear with jeans

Hello - looking for nice trainers that can stand up to puddles (so not canvas or mesh) but finding it hard.

The only ones I've found are fugly or glaringly white. The white ones sadly give off a middle-aged tourist vibe with jeans in a woman of my stature (portly) and age (middle-aged).

Used to love Adidas Super Star but they are bloody expensive and the ones I've tried recently come up v narrow.

Need to have thickish/cushioned sole for comfort, and not be narrow. I love grey/green, grey, silver - don't want anything too brightly coloured.

Does such a thing exist?

I was going to suggest Moda in Pelle but someone beat me to it. I do find their shoes very comfortable and not narrow (I have super wide feet).

These are nice and have a platform.

Their leather hi tops are lovely too. I have a pair similar to these in navy, the leather is buttery soft and didn't need any breaking in but they also clean up really well if worn in wet weather.

PirateCatQueen. Are the Mizzles true to size do you reckon? I’ve not heard of allbirds and they look just what I’m after.

I've struggled to make trainers work in winter. My most successful pair is a suede leopard print platform pair from Shoe the Bear, but I find cleaning the white rubber sole annoying and it has to be done most wears. Instead I've mostly stuck with chunkier shoes - I have a pair of solovair classic derby shoes, the kind with the thick soles. I've had them a year and not been able to fully wear them in yet but they are a fabulous alternative trainers in winter - as someone said upthread, a walking shoe is a lot more suitable for the weather.

I have these in white and they're incredibly comfortable.

I'm on the hunt for some super ga flatforms in white or silver leather for the reasons you describe- if anyone finds some in the sales, please post a link!

Got teenage DD some on ebay which are Clark's - blue and green. Not a fashion style but they are quite waterproof (ish). Don't know if they are boys or ladies, and also don't know if they are current stock. Her last waterproof ones were also Clarks though so worth a look?

Depends if you want practicality or looks, I suppose......Grin

(We had the same problem as you when looking - all the waterproof ones seem to be white! It's crazy)!
