Philips Lumea - After first time

I finally bought Philips Lumea ! Just had my first treatment this morning,

  1. Does pigmentation get darker ?
  1. My skin feels slightly stubbly even after treatment! I thought the ipl burns through the hair in my skin? Does this mean I didn’t do it properly or used a mild setting?
  1. What settings do you use ? I am mixed race. Light skin but dark hair. For my legs, 5 really hurts. So I did them in 4. 3 for Face and underarms, On pigmented areas, it flashed the orange light so I did them in 2. Is 3 really mild for the face?
  1. I may have gone over a few areas twice - is that ok?
  1. Any after care tips please? Some areas still sting 2 hrs after :(

Did you read the instructions and information that comes with it? Sorry if that sounds patronising but a lot of your questions are answered if you read the leaflets. There's also an app that guides you through treatment.

  1. I think it can, if you use it on dark marks or freckles it can burn the skin so you're advised not to do this.
  1. IPL doesn't (shouldn't) burn through the hair. You should shave first and then the light pulses target the hair root and gradually reduce growth. One treatment won't leave you hair-free.
  1. Mine has a search button, you can put it against your skin, push search and it'll advise what colour to use. It should not be painful. I'm white and need to use 4 on my underarms or it stings.
  1. Not advised but if it was accidental it shouldn't cause damage
  1. Sounds to me like you didn't really use it properly/safely, so I strongly advise you go and look on the website/download the app.

I read the booklet and downloaded the app. Also I shaved before starting. I was asking about the part of the hair that remains IN the skin (after shaving cuts the top bit off - iykwim). What happens to that? I still have strawberry legs after treatment. Is that how it’s supposed to be?

I have lumea advanced. Does a lower setting mean more sessions? Settings 4/5 definitely sting! 3 is more comfortable.

It sounds like you had it up far too high! It shouldn’t sting and your skin definitely shouldn’t be red 2 hours later.

In answer to your other question, the hairs aren’t burned up, they will fall out as they grow.
