What are you going for this year? I'd love to be more adventurous but anything glitter or luminous freaks me out so I'm a short with nude a red or a dark red nail wearer.

Always dark red. I hate sparkle and glitter

movingonup20 · 05/12/2020 10:06

Normally dark red but haven't had extensions since lockdown, might buy glittery red normal polish for me and dp's dd who coming for a few days

k1233 · 05/12/2020 10:08

Heaps of things you can play with outside of glitter. Stamping plates, transfers and foils, ombre etc Have a look on YouTube.

Namerchanger42 · 05/12/2020 10:23

I’m mulling over whether to go for dark green and to order some gold flakes to go on them, or just leave as a cream finish, or dark grey with a slight silver glitter ombré. Trying to have a change from my usual festive red this year.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/12/2020 12:14

I do my own with normal polish, and this week have OPI Heart and Coal. It’s a charcoal grey glitter, but very subtle sparkle.

ReindeerHooves2020 · 05/12/2020 12:18

Mrskingfisher - I started he same thread at the same time as you. Coincidence!

Looks like red is popular and subtle sparkle.

Chrysanthemum5 · 05/12/2020 12:32

The same every year! It used to be called Ruby ritz but it's not sold anymore I think so my nail technician recreates it with a lovely red and sparkle on top

Namerchanger42 · 05/12/2020 13:11

@Judystilldreamsofhorses that’s a lovely colour and I’ve been looking for something similar. Does it have a ‘bumpy’ finish though?
I like a very smooth finish on mine.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/12/2020 17:21

@Namerchanger42 you definitely need a topcoat over it.

HermioneWeasley · 05/12/2020 17:26

Nail wraps - baubles and glitter

Spitoutthebauble · 05/12/2020 18:58

Have also bought nail polish wraps for the cheesy festive angle.

This jazzy Rimmel one was a fiver in Sainsbury’s this week.

I have a wonderful nail tech and I love having fun nails. I’ve got a red and green set, with lots of sparkle, snowflakes and candy canes. Classy, it is not. Festive, fun and beautiful by the bucketload.

lazylinguist · 12/12/2020 18:27

I hardly ever do anything to my nails, but they are horribly splitty and rubbish at the moment, so I've done them very dark blackish red. I just use normal nail varnish - I've never had false nails, gel nails etc and I don't even know what foils and wraps are really. Grin

NaughtyNell · 12/12/2020 20:47

Am a tad jealous I hardly wear nail varnish, work in a hospital and it's not permitted unfortunately 😕

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 12/12/2020 21:11

I like a very deep red with glitter.
