New Boots

I have bought some new boots, they are a bit like DM's. They are leather and well made, but very stiff and uncomfortable.

Any tips or magic tricks to soften them quickly? I know that when I break them in they will be comfortable, but if I can't get there without the hours of discomfort I'd try anything!

I have heard that wearing the boots with thick socks and then using a hair drier on the stiff areas works! But I can't say I've tried it!
