Practical winter boots

I live in a quiet area where they never, ever grit the pavements and I'm sick of taking my life in my hands every winter. This morning the pavement was covered edge to edge in a sheet of ice and trying to walk on it is terrifying. I actually just got back into my car and drove away from Tesco because the car park was like an ice rink and my heart rate was sky high even thinking about trying to get to the front door.

So, I'm on the hunt for really grippy winter boots. They don't have to be gorgeous to look at (that would be an added bonus though!) but I'd be happy to part with £70-100 for proper boots that can get me safely over an icy car park.

Any recommendations gratefully received!

I’ve got an older pair of these Merrell boots - I’ve been really happy with them in the wet and ice.

Thank you! I'd seen a few Merrell pairs but I'm not familiar with the brand - I'll have a look Smile
